New Video & Single From Cowboyy

London based lads cowboyy have really been picking up some buzz in the music blog world after having only formed in January of this year. Their very first song, “gmaps”, came out earlier this year and we failed to post at the time so this seems like a perfect time to share the new video for the previously released tune. It’s just so damn catchy and fun. Loving the way the guitar work is sort of playful but also fills out the entire sound of the song.

Cowboyy will release their debut EP Epic the Movie on March 6th via Nice Swan Records. Pre-orders are live now.

More Music From Good Morning

Melbourne based lads Good Morning have really been getting out attention over the last several years with a steady stream of solid releases and singles. Just last month, Nate the Tank shared with you the bands latest single, “burning”, and it’s caused quite a stir around the ATH offices about the upcoming new LP. With the release date for Barnyard now drawing near, I suggest you check out this new track, “depends on what i know”, if you have yet to tune your ears towards their sound. You should enjoy the simplicity of Good Morning’s brand of indie rock while appreciating the slickness of the bass lines and groovy, laid back nature of the song. Now you know.

New LP Barnyard will be available on October 22nd via our friends over at Polyvinyl. Pre-orders are live now.

Let’s Have Another From Dead Stars

It’s clear that ATH has a love affair with Brooklyn band Dead Stars. When a new song by the band comes around, we are going to share it with our readers. Continuing their output of songs worthy of more than a few listens is this latest single “Smarter”. Once again you will find yourself lost in the grunge, alternative throwback, guitar driven rock the band seems to create effortlessly. Rock n roll with guitar as a focus is not dead my friends.

In case you weren’t aware, new LP Perfect Patterns is out on September 1st (pre-order).

Impeccable New Single From Basement Revolver

Though I am likely a bit late in sharing this new song by Ontario based Basement Revolver, it’s just too damn good not to share late or not. The tune, “Tree Trunks”, is a slow, melodic, building track that reminds me of some of the better music from Wye Oak or even Camera Obscura. Both bands we here on the ATH team love. This band is certainly beginning to take off so get on the hype train while you still can.

You can pre-order the new Agatha EP now on Bandcamp. It’s out July 21st.

Did You Hear That New Growl

Earlier this week we were glad to see that Gold Flake Paint ran a short bit on Growl, one of the next LPs we’ll be releasing on ATH Records. It’s the blissed out guitar pop I’ve come to love, like a less formulaic Teenage Fanclub…now with more hooks than ever! They’ve earned raves from locals for some time, and we hope the rest of the folks start to take notice with the release of Won’t You on April 7th! If you’re interested, you can grab the LP directly from us at the Bandcamp or wait for the band to come to a city near you this Spring!

Fresh Tune from Real Numbers

realfakeI’m not sure why you haven’t pre-ordered this new Real Numbers record yet? I tried to convince you with their first new single, but here’s another chance for you to realize how great pop music is these days. Ringing guitars, a bouncing step in the rhythm…and a sense of longing in the vocal delivery. Sure, you could add more reverb and some 40 second ambient solo, but pop music is best when it sticks to simplicity…and in this case its great. Slumberland Records is releasing Wordless Wonder on October 14th, and I reckon the best pop fans will be clamoring to get their hands on it, fighting over shelves like it’s Record Store Day…don’t be one of those folks, get it HERE now!

Since we’re the kids behind the release of the album, we wanted to make sure it ended up on your radar! Announcing Young Girls Party Blood LP

2016-01-25 Young Girls Party Blood Final FRONT SMALLThose of you who weren’t checking the Internet yesterday might have missed this announcement, so I wanted to be sure you knew we’ve officially announced the release of the new LP from Young Girls. This record follows up their excellent self-titled EP (which we also put out), but I think you’ll be amazed at just how complete the trio sounds on Party Blood. Like the best tunes, every song begs to be played on repeat, like the single below. Pete’s got those churning guitar licks and the Mr. Dudek’s drums pound furiously til the end. Pre-order for the record is HERE, or just grab it on May 20th when it meets the rest of the world.

Meet The Lochness Mobsters – New ATH Records Signing

IMG_1708We’re putting out a killer new record with Austin by way of Lake Charles band, The Lochness Mobsters.  I’m really stoked to put out their effort War Tuna, having been a fan of their continuously raucous live shows.  If you’re just meeting the band, let me give you a little insight into what you’re getting.  They’re a three piece act (Tay, Brooks, Mike) specializing in their own Southern blend of psychedelic surf rock with a penchant for pop sensibility.  Honestly, every time I think of the band, it reminds me of Woods, if only that act had a knack for writing shorter, catchier tunes and a willingness to get people to party.  Their debut album will be seeing a limited first run on white vinyl, which you can pre-order from us HERE; the official release date will be August 7th before the band heads out on a little East Coast tour.

Also…if you want to meet the band in person, check them out tomorrow night at Hotel Vegas with Loteria and Mitch Fraizer.  It’s cheap and it’ll be a whole lotta fun.

ATH Records and Punctum Records to Release Shivery Shakes LP

Shivery ShakesWe’ve tried to keep this under wraps, but eventually our excitement had to break through, with news going public Friday that we’ll be releasing the debut LP from Shivery Shakes in conjunction with our friends at Punctum Records.  The album is titled Three Waves and a Shake; it’s scheduled for an October 21st release date on clear vinyl. You can Preorder the LP HERE, but listen to the tune below so you get a feel for why we’re so excited.  It’s got a tight little angular guitar jangle, backed up by a solid bass groove, then filled in with a hook of a chorus. Sweet jams and sweet news.
