Pretty & Nice has been one of those bands that seemingly work beneath the radar, always releasing music that is worthy of mention, yet for some reason never gains much trains with the masses. Despite that, they’re back again to ready a new EP, and we’ve got the new single to share with you today. This track’s got a fuzzed out bass line that begins the track, waiting for the high-pitched vocal to join in on the party; when they add hand-claps and tinkering electronic touches, the infectious quality they’ve always possessed resonates with the listener. Their Infinitely Forever EP will be available next week for your ears.
Not too long ago I brought you one of the gems off the brand new Us You All We EP from Pretty & Nice. The EP just came out this week, and it’s definitely something you need to get your hands on as soon as possible. This new tune they’re offering your way is precisely why I fell for the band, opening with this rambunctious pop swing. It’s got a pounding rhythm, and a little bit of a guitar stutter followed by a blast of noise; it’s a nice new twist on the group’s sound, emphasizing their prowess. You need a lift? Get into this jam right away![audio:http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/01-Hibernate.mp3]
Man, what a trip down memory lane! When we had our first SXSW party back in the day, we were a young site and super excited to have any bands participating. One of the great acts that we were lucky to have was Pretty & Nice. They’ve been a it silent since then, but there’s been slow hints at a return to form; that day is finally here! The group has just released a new single from their forthcoming EP, Us You All We, which will be released on November 16th. Based on this song, it’s going to be high energy with tons of fun tied into the mix–two great things the band never ceases to provide.[audio:http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/03-Capsules.mp3]

Continuing or ACL coverage today, we are excited to bring you an interview with buzz worthy band Passion Pit. These guys have been getting a whole bunch of praise heaped on them from numerous sources and we tend to think they deserve that praise. We recently spoke with Jeff Apruzzese from the band who discusses the hype and buzz surrounding his band. Of course that’s not all we talk about, but you’ll just have to read more to see it all.
We interviewed Pretty & Nice last week to preview this show, but we thought we’d shoot you a reminder about it in case you forgot. The band’s show is going down at Emo’s on Thursday night with Oh No Oh My, The Low Lows and LA Snacks joining in for support. Show starts at 10pm. Tickets are sold only at the door. Check out some music from Pretty & Nice on their myspace page or read our old review of their 2008 album Get Young.
So in case you didn’t hear, Austin Town Hall put on a little SXSW showcase last weekend. We had 5 bands handpicked based on how much we like them and how much we wanted to hear them play live together. All in all, the show turned off without a hitch and even ended on time for everyone to get their shit together and still get a beer afterward or make it to Auditorium Shores. Follow the jump for a brief review of our bands and see some fancy photos.
