Women deserve to stand alongside their male counterparts in the front of the indie music community, but let’s face it, this isn’t always the case, unfortunately. This is why the Typical Girls Compilation is so vital to the scene, or to the world. Emotional Response is releasing this album, filled with 16 female focused bands, playing music that should establish them as anything but “typical.” They’ve uploaded two sample tracks from PRIMETIME and Earth Girls, so I’ve got those below streaming for your listening pleasure. I like the PRIMETIME track for it’s grittiness, compiled with its self-deprecation. Earth Girls spin it differently, blasting through with catchy indiepop that will make any listener clamor for more.
