Sound On Sound Recap: Sunday

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetWe’re a full week out from the incredible inaugural Sound on Sound Festival, and boy, has a lot happened since that blissful last weekend. What I thought would simply be a week of post-fest-depression turned into what I guess will be the next four years of depression and anxiety for the country and the people I love in it. Regardless of that, I’m going to take comfort in writing this recap of past Sunday and maybe I’ll can pretend I’m about tomake that drive out to McDade once more and let my body be cleansed by rain and punk rock…

Go back to happier times and read on for my recap of day 3 of Sound on Sound.

Digging This Electro-Pop From Psychic Twin

13886476_1323599920984300_3301453171240305551_nFor something electronic to catch my ears, it has to be pretty special; now, I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate a good electro-pop track now and then, but sometimes it’s easy to lump those tracks together. This is not the case with “Stop in Time,” the latest single from Brooklyn’s Psychic Twin. When the track starts, you know you’re in for a treat– the electronic elements are layered and textured in such a way that you hear one sleek package of sound that grows into a danceable mix. Take a listen, and then be ready for the release of the latest from Psychic Twin, Strange Diary, which will be out September 9th on Polyvinyl Records.

Bouncing Electro Pop From Psychic Twin

13330930_1262696833741276_6721235017040534068_nPsychic Twin, aka the project of Erin Fein, is starting to make waves with her psychedelic electro pop. Today she put out a new video for the track, “Lose Myself,” which is taken from her upcoming album,Strange Diary. The song is a pulsating and sleek example of electronica, but Fein’s vocals counterbalance these cold sounds with her welcoming vocal presence. The result is a dance-able groove, with a catchy chorus to get you singing along. Watch the video below and get ready for the release ofStrange Diary, which will be out September 9th via Polyvinyl.

Dreamy Track from Psychic Twin

1750This new jam from Psychic Twin, a recent signee to Polyvinyl Records, is something that seems straight out of the bedroom pop of the 80s.  It opens with this trickling it of synth work, but then the entrance of the vocals switch it up, giving it a more enchanting feeling. Personally, the fact that it doesn’t really stay in one place for too long is quite intriguing, listening to the song move back and forth between tropical and bedroom pop.  If you’re into what the group is doing, and you should be, then find yourself picking up their Strangers 7″ on March 5th.

More New Music from Psychic Twin

Long have we adored Headlights over here at ATH, so when word leaked that singer Erin Fein was going out on her own as Psychic Twin, we got really excited.  We posted a track not long ago, and now we’ve got another one to offer you.  This one has a similarly darker quality to Fein’s music, though her voice still maintains that coy playfulness that drew us in so long ago.  It seems to me like she’s got a knack for this sort of thing, so we look forward to see what else she’s got up her sleeve in 2012.

Playful New Dream Pop from Psychic Twin

There’s never a bad time to come across a dreamy little number like this new track from Psychic Twin. The Illinois duo is self-releasing this single later in the year, with hopes to get out a full-length in 2012.  While it begins coated in haunting atmospherics, the song picks up soon after, bouncing off in a blissful manner that’s sure to appeal to any listener.  Personally, I appreciate the way the lyrics come in and out of the foreground of the song, giving it a deeper mystic quality that you don’t hear every day.  Be sure to check out this up-and-comer.
