Pop Punk From Spaceships

225Spaceships is an L.A. based band who create some interesting power pop melodies with a hint of punk/grunge rock to give their music more of an edge.  Below you’ll find new single “Good Gradez” to give you an example of what their music sounds like.  It’s easy to like music and I’m sure you’ll be singing along in no time.

Spaceships have a self-titled EP due out November 4th via New Professor Music.

Austin Spotlight: Basketball Shorts

10449943_776955792327118_3148740025931230137_nLocal label Fleeting Youth has been blowing our minds lately with all of the stellar bands they’ve been picking up on their roster.  Today the label has a new track for us from already somewhat well known Austin band Basketball Shorts.  Our new jam is called “Candy Boys” and you can expect a short, fast, in your face sort of pop-punk tune.  It’s a promising track for one of Austin’s fastest up and comers at the moment.

The aforementioned Fleeting Youth Records will be releasing a split cassette featuring more tracks from Basketball Shorts and several others from Canadian based Surfin’ Mutants Pizza Party.  Pre-order that one now and expect a ship date of July 22nd.

More New Music From Creative Adult

creativeLast month Mr. Lankford shared a new song with your guys from Creative Adult and we all enjoyed the raw punk sound that the band could bring.  This new joint, “Far Out”, is more of the same gritty, screaming, punk rock n roll sound that most of us at ATH enjoy on a regular basis.  Stream the track and let us know what ya think.  Don’t forget that the band will be stopping in for SXSW and they are not one to be missed!

Psychic Mess will be available on February 25th via Run For Cover Records.

Veteran Punk from Steve Adamyk Band

You didn’t think I was going soft on you did you? I’m the resident punk rocker here, and I’ve written about Steve Adamyk Band before on these very pages.  On this new track from the group’s upcoming LP, they pummel quickly through the track, using sharp guitar chops with hints of feedback swirling.  Before you can blink, the track’s got you hooked, and then it’s over.  Sure, I could use an extra 45 seconds, but beggars can’t be choosers, right? If you dig what you hear, the band will be releasing Third on February 5th via the most excellent Dirtnap Records.

More New Music From Plateaus

Towards the beginning of summer, we brought you the first taste of this new gritty punk rock band out of California Plateaus.   With the excitement around here about the band back then, you had to know we’d be posting their songs every time a new is sent our way.  This great new song “Stop Messing Around” will appear on the band’s upcoming self-titled debut LP due out October 30th on Art Fag Records.

New Texas Punk from Riverboat Gamblers

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past several years, then perhaps Riverboat Gamblers is a band you’ve never heard of, but those of us in Texas have long been witness to the rockers.  They’ve just announced their latest LP, The Wolf You Feed, and they’re currently offering up this rad new single for your ears.  If the music isn’t enough to get you going, then also take to heart that the group has fleshed out their sound with the help of another notable Texas punk, Mark Ryan of Mind Spiders. The more I listen to this jam, the more excited I get by the prospect of a full length—you can grab it for yourself on May 22nd.

New(ish) Track From SAUNA

Here’s a new song from Denver based outfit SAUNA who, despite their land locked location, create some fun and intriguing surf doo-wap style pop music.  The track below “Please Don’t Go Away” is in the same vein as some of the swooning tunes from Cults, but then other tracks throw more punk your way similar to Thee Oh Sees.  Check out the tune below or a few more on their Teen Angst Tape EP via bandcamp.
