Robby Share Video for Stay Awhile + Album Release Show

Subtle pop music is currently one of my favorite things; the sort of pop tune that’s unassuming, but just makes your soul feel good. That’s precisely the spot that this new single from Austin’s Robby hits with their new track “Stay Awhile” off their forthcoming LP, Impressions. The verses are steady, these careful little guitar lines mapping out the pop sensibility that comes in full during the choruses; I love the way the guitar has this gentle turn just before the words “stay awhile” are released. The band will be self releasing Impressions this weekend via their own label collective, No Wisdom; they celebrate the album with a show Sunday night over at Cheer Up Charlies with TVs Daniel and Lolita Lynne.

Genuine Leather Drop New Single + Release Show

We’ve long been behind Austin act Genuine Leather, but the group has been fairly quiet since the release of Brunch in 2016. But, today they return with a brand new single and celebratory show at Cheer Up Charlies. The new song has a horror-themed video to accompany it, with just a bit of fun added in to match the song’s pop desires. Just sit back and let those crunchy guitars burst through your speakers, wait for the vocal hooks to wash over you, then rinse and repeat. The band celebrate the new single with a great line-up at Cheer Up Charlies featuring Shivery Shakes, Pollen Rx and Robby; the band will have some old school TVs up to, streaming the new video with headphone sets attached for your listening pleasure.

Second to Last Growl Show at Cheer Ups Tonight

Hopefully you all enjoyed listening to Growl throughout their time as a band…and those in Austin get a few more chances to see the band before they call it a day; one is tonight at Cheer Ups! A few of the members are moving on in life, chasing new opportunities outside of Austin, thus they’re amicably taking a break on Growl. We were happy to be part of that story by releasing Won’t You a few years back; you can stream it in its entirety below, with a link to your own copy HERE. They’ll be joined on stage tonight by Robby and Sherry who will kick things off when doors open at 9 PM. Come on out and enjoy what could be your last chance to see Growl.

Go On and Listen to Robby

Robby is a brand new act ready to make waves in Austin, but members of the group have a pedigree all their own…featuring members of Magia Negra and Ringo Deathstarr. They’ve just put up two songs for your listening pleasure, and both illustrate a group that has the knack to handle various styles. “Shade” has a slight Spoon sound, especially with the way the vocals are delivered, but you can hear the slight psychedelic undercurrent as the song evolves. That leads us right to “Om,” which takes on a frolic through the landscape of the previously mentioned psychedelia; it moves slowly, allowing for a more emotional pull. Give a listen and get acquainted, as I’m sure we’re all be hearing more from Robby soon.
