Mesmerizing New Single From Holy Esque

2012HolyEsquePR240112Glasgow group Holy Esque has certainly seen many posts on this here website over the years, and rightfully so.  Amazingly enough after several years of coverage on ATH the band is finally releasing a proper full LP after a couple of EPs to keep us happy.  Below is a taste of the new album with new single “Hexx”.  Old fans of the band will immediately recognize the distinct and powerful vocals of lead singer Pat Hynes.  Let’s not forget the powerful rock sounds coming from the rest of the band who manage to compliment those vocals perfectly.  Carry on.

At Hope’s Ravine will hit stores on February 26th via Beyond the Frequency.

Blast This New Track from Chomp

10917920_785601878196428_795133212361893412_oChomp‘s a three-piece rock act from Ohio, and I’m definitely digging their style. It blends a bit of art rock with hints of late 90s emo/punk. But, it also has this death march bass line that works throughout the track as the guitar squeals into your air; there’s an air of danger in the song…so if that’s your thing. October 9th will see the release of their Bruise Control EP via the good people at Mirror Universe Tapes, so take a trip and turn the stereo up!

Sludge Rock From Surfin’ Mutants Pizza Party

smpp1Seems like were posting mostly slow and gentle singer/songwriter sounds today so I wanted to find a little something to mix up the tempo.  This awesome jam, “Kraken”, from Quebec based Surfin’ Mutants Pizza Party is just what I was looking for.  If loud, fast, and a little in your face rock n roll is your fancy, click play and have your hunger satisfied.  Check out first single “Brain Avenue” elsewhere on the site.

Austin amigos Fleeting Youth Records will put out The Death of Cool on May 19th.

Rocker From Shark?

10945857_10152496773606841_1340772088358167219_o (1)It’s been awhile since I last shared with you some new music from Brooklyn based outfit Shark?, so I’m excited to be giving you this new joint today.  This one is called “Hangnail” and is a true rock and roll number displaying some of the finest traits of the genre in one song.  You can almost feel the badass tendencies coming through the vocals and sludgy sounds on the track.

Shark? have a new EP entitled Becky and Debbie due out next week on Old Flame Records.

Heart Beach

tumblr_njjyzkZXey1tq4r3mo1_500I just heard about Australian based indie band Heart Beach today and I’m already stricken with their music.  This song, “Away”, is what started it all for me and I’m hoping you feel the same way when you hit play.  It’s a song that is seemingly always waiting for the beat to drop, it never really does, and I find myself loving every second of that.  Loving the guitar sounds created here too.  Check out more of their tuneage over on bandcamp.

Heart Beach have their debut LP coming out on March 20th this year.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/185477389″ params=”color=ff9900&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Spirited Pop from Summer Cannibals

unnamedI’ve really been enjoying the tunes I’ve heard from the new effort from Portland’s Summer Cannibals.  They’ve got this entangling bit of rock n’ roll, but there’s this sultry draw that comes from Jessica Bourdreaux that really drives home an extra special hook.  But, don’t think that things are all bright and sunny, as they break this song down with a crunchy guitar edge to round out the softness on the track. It’s the title track from their forthcoming album, Show Us Your Mind, which will pop up on New Moss Records on March 3rd.

Premiere: Birds of Night Prep New Self-Titled LP

4212Just because we rep Austin doesn’t mean we don’t look around Texas for great tunes from our neighboring cities, which is where we ran into Denton’s Birds of Night.  The group’s new single has this guitar that cuts through the pounding rhythm section, tied in tightly with a great Southern vocal that wears a Texas drawl proudly.  It reminds me a lot of local band A. Sinclair, just offering up a heavy dosage of great no-frills rock n’ roll. Their album, Birds of Night, was recorded by Midlake‘s McKenzie Smith at his Redwood Studio, so you know they’ve already caught the ear of some Texas heavy-hitters.  Here’s to them reaching beyond our state line; look for the album on April 21st.

Powerful Track From Waxahatchee

10_700_700_549_waxahatchee_ivytrip_900pxBeen perusing the internet a little bit today and found this great new track from indie rocker Katie Crutchfield and her project known as Waxahatchee.  The track is called “Air” and is a simple, yet powerful tune, with its banging drums and washed out guitar driving us throughout.  Press play and enjoy the same thing I’ve been jamming all morning.

Pick up new album, Ivy Tripp, on April 7th via Merge.
