Rambling Folk Number from Ryley Walker

ryleySeems like Ryley Walker is writing music non-stop, whether with his friends, or, as in this case, as a solo artist. Not surprisingly, each release garners more and more praise, and while it probably hurts indie fans, this latest single is something that seems destined to move beyond the “I heard it first” crowd. The guitar work, as always, is intricate, but the construction of the rest of the track is what really makes the track…percussion rises where needed, but never oversteps its need. This number sounds like it deserves more than just running on the blogs, but maybe that’s just me. Look for his new effort, Golden Sings That Have Been Sung, to hit stores on August 19th via Dead Oceans.

New Album Coming from Ryley Walker

ryleyWhile Ryley Walker is only becoming a household name for many, he’s been quite busy since his stardom burst through with Primrose Green. Today comes new that he’ll be issuing a new record with Dead Oceans, Golden Sings That Have Been Sung, on August 19th. Musically, he’s still an exploratory artist, taking on the space his guitar has crafted, adding in varying textures of percussion and further guitar accompaniment. His vocal delivery seems steadying, but almost inserted as an afterthought, wordplay inserted to keep your attention as the song’s changing patterns unfold. There’s always more than meets the ear in his work, so bring your careful listens to this 6 minute jam.

Fresh Ryley Walker Tune

ryleyOur first listen to the new effort from Ryley Walker was more of a piano-based ballad; it did however show some glimpses of things to come, hinting at the power he’s likely to unleash on his album, Primrose Green.  This tune offers you that inside look; you will find that same remarkable vocal display, but the latter half of the tune really pushes the envelope into a more raucous world where we’re all free to jam out. It’s like singer-songwriter fare, but with an oomph to it, falling just short of being an all-out jam track.  Look for his new effort to be released by Dead Oceans on March 31st.

New Music from Ryley Walker

ryleyFeel sort of off my rocker today; I’m all over the map.  Brought a sweet rock tune, a nice pop tune, but now onto something a bit more expansive with Ryley Walker. Today we have our first listen to his new single, which has this piano backbone that’s carried forward by some delicate acoustic guitar work. It’s definitely the sort of song that allows you to sink into your couch while the fire’s burning in Winter, immersing yourself in some quiet solitude.  Look out for his new album, Primrose Green, via Dead Oceans on March 31st.
