Bibi Club Share Parc de Beauvoir Single

There’s something incredibly freeing about listening to the latest from Bibi Club; the song employs some of the signature moves of modern indie rock, though in that, they seem to escape some of the trappings of mimicry. Personally, I love the simplicity of the guitar line, playing with a really light jingle that bobs and weaves, occasionally taking on a little mid-track excursion. Still, that simplicity sets up Adele Trottier-Rivard’s vocals, allowing her to snake between each chord and snapping drum beat. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m really enjoying every little bit that’s sneaking out from their new record Feu de garde, out May 10th via Secret City Records.

Bop Along to New Bibi Club

I really can’g get enough of this new track from Bibi Club; I was instantly hooked with the pulsing beat work that sets the tune at the start. From there, however, the song opens up into this rocking bit of guitar pop, while the undercurrent continues to provide energy throughout the middle. I can already hear folks making comparisons to other Francophile acts that use electronics, but for me, this is different; it feels more rocking and lighter in a sense, like it’s trying to free itself from the confines of that style a bit. Plus, that hook is just too damned good to walk away from. Feu de Garde will drop via Secret City Records on May 10th.

Have Another Plants And Animals Tune

Earlier in the summer, I was pleased to share with you some new tunes and an album announcement from the iconic and always reliable Montreal based band Plants and Animals. Over the years, it’s been interesting to hear he mutations of the band’s sound but I feel like this new single “Love that Boy” could be an even further evolution into greatness. The bright and sunny vibes from the band are still there underneath but some new elements of R&B beats and groovy, soothing swirls have also been added in to give the song this lovely, relaxing vibe. Have yourself a listen below.

Plants and Animals will release The Jungle on October 23rd via Secret City Records.

Beautiful Track From Wilsen

It’s been quite a few years since I last mentioned Brooklyn outfit Wilsen. Not sure where I’ve been, but the band just announced a new album today with accompanying new single/video “Ruiner”. It’s a bit of a haunting, broody, dream pop number which will at times offer joy, and then slow things down to soften the mood. I love the slower bits, paired with the more intense, louder moments. Wonderful work.

Wilsen will release new album Rainer on February 21st via Secret City Records. Pre-order

Plants and Animals Return!

img-plants-and-animals_113615648555Man I used to really be into Canadian group Plants and Animals several years ago and I honestly wasn’t sure if the band was still making music or not. You can likely now imagine my excitement when I just got word today that the band is making a return after a long 4 year absence. A brand new album is planned for release in the Spring featuring this awesome new single “No Worries Gonna Find Us”. It’s a stunning, driving pop song with a catchy hook and a nice beat keeping your head nodding throughout. Dig.

Waltzed in From the Rumblingis due out on April 28th via Secret City Records.
