Ladies and germs, allow me to introduce you to Newcastle, Australia based outfit RAAVE TAPES and their impressively heavy sound. Their music definitely has some elements of bands you’ve maybe heard in the past, but never have you heard these elements all come together in one song. Think if Screaming Females managed to get even heavier and louder like say a Death From Above or Colourmusic, and you’d be pretty close. If you’re not one for comparisons, check out this new track “k bye” and let us know what you think. I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
The band will be doing some touring in support of this single and previous new releases this summer. Check out their Facebook page for more info.
As I’m enjoying this nice change of weather today, I’m needing some music to fit the sunshine currently spreading across our city. My new friends in Ottawa based band How Far to Mexico have given me just that with their new single “Fools”. It’s a bit of bright and shiny pop music with a bit of a breezy feeling perfect for a summer dance party or a long drive. I’ll be adding it to my summer playlist as I wrap up this post.
This track appears on a new EP entitled Drought coming out on June 11th (pre-order here).

Just the other day, Burlington, VT based Apartment 3 reached out to me in hopes we’d premiere their latest single here on ATH. After you hit play on this new track “Winter is Over”, I’m sure you’ll immediately see why I jumped at the chance. At its core, this is a garage rock tune with some elements of psych rock and penetrating vocals unlike other typical bands from the genre. I’m sure many of you out there can agree that this is clearly a talented band that we all need to start paying attention to. Better start now before they hit it big.

Prior to about 3 days ago I knew almost nothing about Austin band Dream Attics and I should apologize to the band and their fans right now. With that out of the way, I’d like to introduce and hype up the band as much as possible because their music is certainly worthy of your time. Today you can get a sample of the sounds created with this new single from the band called “Still”. In a short few words, this is a truly enjoyable bit of dream pop music that is equal parts shiny and mesmerizing. I’d say we all need to start paying attention to Dream Attics. They also have some more music over on their bandcamp page.

All of us here in Austin were pumped when we heard about Warm Soda moving to town. Of course this would mean we often get a first listen to new tunes before anyone else as is the case today. For a bit of a twist, creative mind behind the band, Matthew Melton, is going solo for this effort. Below you can find our exclusive stream of Melton’s new single called “Too Many Hearts Lack Lovers”. Once again we are treated to some garage influenced pop music, but with an almost psych style twist from who is now one of Austin’s best up and coming songwriters. Carry on friend.
Southpaw Records will release this track via 7″ single on September 15th.
