Star Parks Announces The New Sounds of Late Capitalism LP

We knew that Andy Bianculli had something in the works when word came out that his project Star Parks had signed with Modern Outsider Records, so we’re glad the word is The New Sounds of Late Capitalism. It’s a playful number brimming with various movements within the song’s general structure that take the listener up and down. A fuzzy stomp kicks you into gear before fading into a more angelic float of vocals, accented by some real light keys that bridge the gap between the airy melody and the tapping of the drum work. You’ll find the hook-laden chorus harkening to some of Austin’s finest pop purveyors like Spoon, filled with the horns and all that extra jazz! The new LP drops on February 14th.

Join Us at Cheer Up Charlies Tonight: Lowin, Yukon Gold and more…

We love to work with our friend John over at SideOneTrackOne, who also handles one of Austin’s local radio shows, 101X Homegrown. We’ve teamed up with him this week to bring you a show of great importance over at Cheer Up Charlies; you get four incredible Austin acts for the price of a Bud Light at any of the bars on 6th Street. Zettajoule kicks things off for the evening, followed by Yukon Gold, Star Parks and Lowin. It’s important to note here, of course, that Yukon Gold is the supergroup formerly known as All Eyes, but with a new singer. Doors are at 9 PM, with more info HERE.

Show Preview: A. Sinclair Returns to Hotel Vegas – TONIGHT

A. SinclairFirst, this show is all about welcoming back A. Sinclair after their tour; it’s always good to show up and say hi to old friends, buy them a beer before they crash into that post-tour darkened den of sleep for a few weeks. Plus, if you come out early, like a music fan, you can catch Mean Jolene, who will be releasing their debut LP later this year via ATH Records (that’s us!). But, one thing people might be sleeping on in the presence of Tedo Stone of Atlanta, who garnered a lot of great press from the like heavy hitters with their album Marshes last year. Oh, and secretly hiding their all along is Star Parks, who’ve released one of my favorite LPs in Austin this year. It’s going to be cheap, and its going to be fun, and the weather will be cool enough to actually enjoy the great Hotel Vegas patio. See you tonight.

ATX Spotlight: Star Parks

12717670_447276908797074_8975241183673572550_nWhile we all know that Austin is one of the best places to find new up-and-comers in the realm of indie music, it’s nice when you come across a band that really solidifies this notion. Today, that band is Star Parks, who make dream pop with americanainfluences that will melt your heart. The band is about to release their album,Don’t Dwell, this Friday, but before then, you should get acquainted with the band’s sweet sound with “Loose Ends.” There’s definitely a Dr. Dog-vibe going on here, but I’m liking the way the band really builds into the sound, and the vocals compel the track to its various levels. It’s the kind of song the makes you want to get out of your chair and dance around the room, which you’ll be hard pressed not to do, especially when those horns hit late in the track. Take a listen and then preorder their pretty blue record fromPaper Trail Records.
