Brand New Tune from Former Bullies

formerbulliesI’ve been fortunate the last few weeks, as tons of my favorite acts have released some really incredible tracks for the world to hear, but I’m not sure any single one makes me happier than this new Former Bullies tune. I first caught onto the Mancs back a few years when they had an excellent release on CF Records, but I hadn’t really heard anything about them until this last week.  They just tossed up this brilliant new single, which is a guaranteed hit for any of you fans of kiwi-tinged guitar pop…or maybe just really good jangling art pop acts.  They’ve got a new album called Strangers, which will be out on the esteemed CF Records sometime in the very near future; I’m thiniking (hoping) Fall.

Dreamy Track from Psychic Twin

1750This new jam from Psychic Twin, a recent signee to Polyvinyl Records, is something that seems straight out of the bedroom pop of the 80s.  It opens with this trickling it of synth work, but then the entrance of the vocals switch it up, giving it a more enchanting feeling. Personally, the fact that it doesn’t really stay in one place for too long is quite intriguing, listening to the song move back and forth between tropical and bedroom pop.  If you’re into what the group is doing, and you should be, then find yourself picking up their Strangers 7″ on March 5th.

New Music from Gung Ho

You know I love to give appropriate levels of hype to the great Aussie scene (Aussietownhall sound okay to you?), so I’m continuing my adulation with a shout to Gung Ho, one of my favorite up-and-comers from the scene.  The band just recently released this incredible new single, and if you’re smart, you’re going to one to keep an eye out on these dudes. I love the bubbling bass line combined with the vocals that seemingly float through your headphones from a distance.  Slight hints of sharp angled guitars cut in and out of the track, adding an extra layer to the already existing quality.  Give it a go.
