Fresh 7″ from Linda Guilala

Today completes the wonderful trilogy of singles from Spain’s Linda Guilala (band/not person); they drop a fresh 7″ on heralded label Test Pattern Records. The A-side here, it’s a stunner. Guitars and texture swirl in the air like snow flurries falling to the ground, leaving plenty of space for the warm vocals to move into the picture, as well as some buzzsaw guitars; it’s probably the most complete dream pop meets shoegaze tune I’ve heard this year. B-Side will definitely display nods to Stereolab, particularly in the movement of the rhythm section whilst being coated in organ stabs, feedback and layered vocal notes. Two brilliant songs to better your Friday. Absolutely brilliant. Grab the 7″ from Test Pattern Records, or stream it all day long!

Brand New Indiepop from Desario

desarioWhen the music world goes stale, you can always count on the fact that there’s a great indiepop band out there just crafting wonderful tunes. Luckily for us, Test Pattern Records and Desario have six great new tunes! The label releases the Haunted EP, the second EP from the band this year, and there’s not a miss on this one. I think the bubbling pop of “Formula One” is my current favor, though when I started writing this little blurb, I was completely digging the shimmering sounds of “Wayside.” If you want something charming on your Friday, then you need look no further than Desario and their latest batch of hits.

New Split 7″ from The Luxembourg Signal/Soft Science

testpatternThe key to discovering great new music, or being reminded of bands you love is to stay close and follow your friends (even if they’re only Internet friends–don’t buy into the hype!). Lucky for me, I troll some great people, which is how I got pointed in the right direction of this Luxembourg Signal/Soft Science split 7″. I’ve actually covered both bands before, but it’s hard to keep up with everyone, so I’m glad this came to my attention. Luxembourg Signal offer up a great dreamy pop tune for their side, filling 4+ minutes with ringing distorted guitar and melody. Soft Science take a slightly janglier approach, though still in the same vein, it’s got a completely different feel…it all leaves you feeling quite well about the world. The 7″ is now available through Test Pattern Records!
