Utterly Serene Track From Damien Jurado
If a moment of chill is what you’re after today, then you’ve come to the right place. “Allocate” from Damien Jurado is the five minutes of the day where you just turn the volume up and tune it all out. First and foremost, the vocals are absolutely lovely–Jurado’s voice hits you like a cool breeze, but with the rich texture of the likes of M. Ward. They shine as the brightest aspect of the track as they spin a tale, but they’re richly held together by the slow moving instrumentation. You also get this undercurrent of strings, which adds a welcome layer of nostalgia and wistfulness to the number.
