ATX Spotlight: OBN III’s Strike Again

obnYou know ’em, you love ’em, we love ’em: local rockers OBN III‘s. They’ve been making the Austin scene a little more rock and roll for a good deal of time now and they’ve returned once more to hit us over the head with a great rock tune. “4KD” is nothing but gnarly; blistering guitars shred through from the start, and the vocals match this tone while complimenting the fast paced drums. Though a straightforward jam, you can’t help but enjoy the edgy simplicity the band brings to the song. This track is perfect for blasting through these intense summer days. Take a listen.

Austin Spotlight: Another OBN IIIs Hit

obnIt was only a matter of time before OBN IIIs really started to make waves everywhere.  They’ve long been one of our favorite acts, and they’ve definitely earned loyal fans on their countless tours; it’s about time the band got some love from the press that lauds all their imitators.  Orville’s performance on this new jam is pretty spot on, and those feuding guitar parts are just ridiculous.  Just as we expected, the song captures their live energy, and shows just what a force they can be when recorded. Their new record, Third Time to Harm, will be out on May 11th via Tic Tac Totally.

Austin Spotlight: OBN IIIs

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the Austin music scene, you are familiar with Orville Bateman’s musical project known as OBN III’s.  He is of course involved in tons of other bands in town, but this one is a personal favorite of mine.  Today we’ve gotten news that the group has recently finished a new album and is spreading the word with this great new track called “No Time For the Blues”.  It’s of course in the punk rock genre, and I’m down for that.  You can also hear some hints of another famous front man by the name of King Khan in there too, and I can’t see how anyone wouldn’t be down for that as well.

Pick up new album, Third Time to Harm, on May 27th via Tic Tac Totally Records.

New (ish) Single from Useless Eaters

Feel like today could get too poppy if I don’t throw something deliciously heavy on the mix, so I’m glad I got my new Useless Eaters 7″ today.  The band just recently released their Addicted to the Blade single, and it looks like they’ve already got other things in the mix, but let’s focus on this jam.  There’s a bit of an echo in the vocals, giving off a dark vibe to the stomping rhythm of the track…and it all leads into the great chorus that makes the song an absolute winner. Oh, and did I mention they blew us away recently when they played with Ty Segall? All things point towards the positive for this group, so go and order your copy of the single from Tic Tac Totally!
