Friday night one of our favorite bands will be gracing the stage for a nice set, and I couldn’t think of a better sound system to handle the wall of beautiful noise that The Soft Moon will bring to the table. The band, primarily the project o Luis Vasquez has been carrying a blend of noise, electronica and industrial pop for some time now, and he’s captivated us through several albums on Captured Tracks…and a nice set at Levitation/Psych Fest. Joining him on the stage that night will be Austin act, VIDEO, as well as Autlier. If you want a pair of tickets for free, leave a comment…pick a number between 1-1000. We’ll contact the winner after NOON on Thursday when the contest comes to a close!
You can also go the other route, and buy tickets from The Parish HERE.
This Friday is one of my favorite days of the year guys. It’s Belle and Sebastian Day!!! Well, not nationally, but personally. The Glaswegian band has long been one of my favorite all time bands, which was reaffirmed with their latest release, Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance. They’ll be bringing their wonderful version of pop music to the stage this Friday at ACL Live Moody Theatre…and we’ve got one pair of tickets to giveaway to a lucky winner. Trust me, you’ll want to see Stuart dancing all upon the stage…plus Wild Moccasins will be opening, so you win. Try to win below, but if you want guaranteed tickets, but them HERE.
In order to win, leave a comment with your favorite Belle and Sebastian song or album (if you say Storytelling you’re not winning!). We’ll select a winner by Thursday at Noon, and you’ll be notified of your pair of tickets.
Chaos in Tejas and Transmission are bringing some incredible bands into town this week, and we’ve got yet another chance for you to win a pair of tickets. Under Color of Official Right is one of the most rewarding listens this year, and the group dominated the SXSW post-hype machine with several great performances. You’ll get a chance to see the band perform in a fairly intimate setting over at Holy Mountain, supported by two incredible local acts: Xetas and Simple Circuit. Just because you love Protomartyr doesn’t mean you can’t get there early to catch these two remarkable bands too.
It’s the midway point in the year for all intents and purposes, so leave your Favorite Album of 2014 (so far) and I’ll pick a winner that most closely aligns with our tastes. Contest ends Thursday at Noon.

Chaos In Tejas might have scaled things back a bit this year, but the folks that brought you that festival are bringing you some great shows next week. One of the highlights is the show that features Parquet Courts, Radioactivity and Beth Israel over at Red 7. Parquet Courts are known for killer live shows, and people are drooling in anticipation for their upcoming record, Sunbathing Animal…out on What’s Your Rupture in June. But, just because these guys are great, doesn’t mean you should sleep on the opener Radioactivity. The band made up of former Marked Men released an excellent self-titled LP last year, with another one rumored for this year. It’s going to be an incredible show, and you can win a pair of tickets free!
Leave a comment about the band you’re most looking forward to at Fun Fun Fun Fest 2014. I’ll pick my winner from there. Click HERE for the line-up. Contest ends Monday at 12 Noon.

Personally, this is the steal of the week. Kishi Bashi is renown for his incredible performances, not to mention the moving music he’s created, so why not take a chance to grab yourself a pair of free tickets from us and our friends at Transmission. Kishi is known for looping his voice, his violin and beats, a la Andrew Bird, but I have a feeling that he’ll bring a friend or two to the stage. If you’ve been hiding in a hole, then I suggest you go back and listen to 151a, or steam his up-coming release, Lighght, over at NPR. This is guaranteed to be one of those shows your friends will talk about for years, so be sure to show up. And get there early to catch Plume Giant. You can assure yourself tickets HERE, or you can leave a comment with Your Favorite Local Eatery; I’ll pick the winner who I agree with the most (I’m in fat kid mode today, FYI).
Contest closes at 12 PM CST on Thursday, May 8th.

Alright all you dance-ateria types, we’ve got a great deal for you courtesy of our friends at Learning Secrets. They’re putting on an incredible dance party this Saturday night at Kingdom featuring Pat Mahoney as Museum of Love; he’s one of the founding members of LCD Soundsytem. You can definitely hear how the beats were constructed for the old group, though Mahoney has a different spin on the vocal take than James Murphy (deeper). Plus, not only do you get to hear Mahoney and his friends throw down, but the boys in Learning Secrets will be opening up the night too, taking on a two hour set starting at 10. Tickets are $15 HERE, or you can pay $20 at the door. Your best option is to leave us a comment telling us why you deserve to go to this; it’s that simple. Contest closes Friday at Midnight.
There’s something about the summer time that makes listening to folk music absolutely perfect. I can’t explain it exactly, but I do know that Night Moves are one of those bands that seem to fit this bill; it’s a good thing they’ll be playing at Mohawk next Friday with locals Lord Buffalo. Their recent album, Colored Emotions, has received tons of praise for its nod to folk history, which makes the setting of an indoor set at Mohawk ideal for an intimate show you and your friends won’t soon forget. We’re giving away two tickets to the show, and all you have to do is leave a CLEVER comment. We’ll pick a winner next Wednesday at 5 PM, and let you know! You can also go the traditional route and buy tickets HERE.
Here’s a recent set from the boys at Bonaroo: Bonaroo!
Man, it seems like there’s a whole lot of shows coming our way here in Austin, and we’re back with a chance for you to win a pair of tickets to an exciting show over at the Mohawk next Tuesday. Black Moth Super Rainbow will bring their experimental pop tunes our way, still riding the praise from their latest album, Cobra Juicy. They’ll be joined by the Hood Internet, so you know that everyone’s going to have a blast just by being in attendance, let alone enjoy some great tunes. All you have to do to win a pair of tickets is leave a comment with a number between 1-1000; the contest will end Friday at Midnight. If you want tickets the traditional way, you can head HERE.
There’s been tons of great records being pushed upon the Internet world lately, but one that I’m personally excited about it is the new effort from Pure X. Crawling Up the Stairs is on my list of anticipated albums, and it’s great that an Austin band is making such big waves. But, in other news, they’ll be playing their album release next Thursday, giving us Austinites a chance to hear the new tunes live at Holy Mountain on Thursday, May 23rd; they’ll be joined by Troller and Versus. And, we’re going to give away a pair of tickets to the show, which you can win by simply leaving us a comment. Let us know what your summer plans are, even if you have a real job and are just taking a weekend jaunt. We’ll pick the most exciting summer plan, and there’s our winner. Contest will end on Friday at Midnight.
