Told Slant Strikes Again!

11215880_611309239011111_7984172434889771659_nTold Slant, as I posted about a few weeks ago, is really on the up-and-coming as they prep for the release of their album,Going By.This Brooklyn group, which is fronted by Felix Walworth. This track, “High Dirge,” is a melancholy song, focusing around the twangy and emotion packed vocals of Walworth. It’s a quiet number that uses its slow-core aesthetic to rope you in, and then the lyrics keep you there. Lines like “It’s a long life, I can’t get it right,” that are repeated over and over, stick with you long after the song is over. Take a listen and find out.

Going By, will be available June 17th via Double Double Whammy Records, and you can preorder it here.

Watch This New Told Slant Video!

Told Slant, the Brooklyn group that features the music of Felix Walworth, have got a new video to share with you for their song “Tsunami.” This song is eclectic pop gold, with riffs of guitars chiming in and out peacefully, while the lead vocals channel Spencer Krug in their twang, sounding like they’re holding weighty emotions behind them. I’m enjoying the way the track builds from a quiet folk number to its powerful close. Simply put, this song is a great burst of emotion and energy that is accompanied by the quaint music video. Told Slant Has Something

Told Slant - Going By | Press picI’m going to go out on a limb here, Told Slant (the project of Felix Walworth) is the new Modest Mouse. I don’t mean this in terms of the over-produced, oft-dimsissable, current MM, but the old stuff we all love and adore. Even with that, there’s something accomplished, almost polished that makes it even more appealing. It’s only one song, but it already seems perfectly suited for one of those late night drives under the stars, letting the music sink into your soul as you drive to an endless horizon. Look for the new effort, Going By, via Double Double Wammy on June 17th.
