SXSW Interview: Lance Neptune

0626511-R4-007-2-700x588With our SXSW questionnaires, our objective is to get a different perspective from as many bands as we can who happen to be coming to town and, hopefully, everyone has enjoyed the reads so far. Today I’m please to get some answers from Maryland based electronica/producer artist Lance Neptune. I’m personally excited for this one because it offers a take from an artist whose style isn’t one I usually give much time to. Let’s enjoy. Follow the jump for more.

New Music From White Laces

White-Laces-Press.180948.124220I’m not sure how I plan on labeling it, but this new track from White Laces is really getting my head nodding today.  One could maybe associate them with acts like War on Drugs with the ability to rock out just a little more.  Whatever you want to call it, this is a track that is surely worth a few listens today.

White Laces have a new album called Trance due out October 7th on Happenin Records.

SxSW 2013: Panels and Interviews

One aspect that gets lost in all of the day party RSVP anxiety is the ability for peeps registered with the conference to attend panels and interviews at the Convention Center. This year, there were four participants high on my list: Rachel Maddow, Danny Boyle, Depeche Mode and Dr. Steve Weinberg. That last guy you may not have heard of before, but he is a legend in physics. I am a nerd.

Thought I would share some thoughts about each session and share a few pics.

Eight Minutes with Lindstrom

Here is something a little different for you. This track came across the IT Dept’s twitter feed as a song of the day at Line of Best Fit.

Lindstrom has these flashes that get him a slot on my playlists from time to time and this track summarizes the good and bad. It is strange, it goes full on disco to deep trance in a single beat. Bright to dark, pensive to frivolous. Maybe this will work to start your dance party this weekend.

Maybe you will hate it and use it to show your friends why you hate electronic music. Either way, have a listen, download from the soundcloud embed if you like. If you like, take a listen to a few of the other artists at smalltownsupersound’s soundcloud.

The IT Department – v2.3

This edition will bring you a nice little variety. I have an older track from Glass Candy that I’ll use to highlight one the best movies I have seen in a while. I have a track from Superhumanoids that is short and sweet. An old-school feeling trance track from Acid Washed that is new, I promise. Loose Fit busts out some funky bassline action for a genre I like to call “theme music”. I’ll finish up with a stellar track from Dana Buoy you can download. Dana Buoy is in Akron/Family, this isn’t an Akron/Family track.

Head past the break…
