New Stuff From ATH Records

It’s the end of the week, so why not wrap it up by highlight some great tunes that came from our little ATH Records label.

The excellent Gold Flake Paint wrote up about Tres Oui‘s new single, “Prince of Pop.” You can read what Tom had to say HERE. Grab it HERE. Oh. We’re co-releasing it with Square of Opposition…who helped us start the label by sharing the OG Literature LP with us!

Then, Pure Volume hooked us up with apreview of the title track from Pollen Rx‘s debut LP, Sunbelt Emptiness. Check that piece out HERE, and grab it HERE.

And of course, extra streams below for the cause!

Show Pics: A Night On Red River

dsc_0521Every once in a while, I grab the camera knowing there are a few bands playing that will have some friends out and about, on stage or off. Last Friday night was one such night with Tres Oui and Lou Rebecca featured in a record release show for Fort Never at Cheer Up Charlie‘s and Night Drive closing out a night of electronic goodness at Swan Dive (a venue I don’t got to often enough given the lineups recently).

Join me after the break with plenty of pics and quick few thoughts on Tres Oui‘s new jams and revised lineup and my first set in front of Lou Rebecca.

Have A Nice Weekend

dsc_0472I’ll have some pics up from a little night of shimmy soon, teaser posted. New Tres Oui tacks are so strong live.

ACL is nearly upon us. If you haven’t been reading your email, this year’s fest on the fifteenth Anniversary will bring some of the biggest changes in some time. There will no longer be a stage at the rock island. This will mean hte middle of hte park will be the traffic area and we won’t have the bottleneck on the north side getting from the Stratford side of the park to the biggest stage. No more porta-potties, flushable bliss. Kiddie Limits has an external entry now. Artist and media lounges are moved to where Kiddie area was. Check out all the 411 here, including the new map.

I am going to drop in a jam that had been exclusive elsewhere on the net. It is from Ishi, strong groove, new EP called Juno is available on the bandcamps.

More New Music from Tres Oui

tresRemember that time when we helped put out the first Literature LP? That was awesome. So, we’ve kept close relations with the band, especially with their Austin based side-project Tres Oui (featuring Nate and Seth). They just recently uploaded a gem of an indiepop tune via the Office Series for Unblinking Ear Records. It’s washed in a nice coat of synths, washing over their cutting guitar chords. It seems like the perfect tune for performance, which if you’ve caught the band live, is exhilarating as Nate always takes complete ownership of the stage. Keep and eye out folks.

Austin Spotlight: Meet Tres Oui

tresThe very first record I dallied with on our label was by a little band called Literature, who’ve gone on to great heights with Slumberland Records. But, recently, a few of the guys moved back to Austin and started this brand new musical project, Tres Oui…namely Nathaniel. It’s definitely similar in sound, though hitting more on his own personal influences and tastes in the songwriting. He tossed us this track the other day, hoping to spread the word on his new stuff, get the name out and start playing some shows about in Austin (and beyond). So folks, here’s Tres Oui.

ATX Popfest 2015

ATX Popfest 00It all started when Nathan ran his mouth about getting a bunch of bands together to celebrate just how damn good Austin’s Pop scene is right now. It is a renaissance. With long time ATH faves like Shivery Shakes, She Sir, Young Girls (HTX) and Letting Up Despite Great Faults, Popfest had a number of shiny new things to shimmy to including Templo X, Summer Salt, Polio Club, (new to me) MCG and new old friends in Tres Oui to round things out. Well, OK, Tres Oui is kinda Literature, but not really, so still “new”…

Pics and recap? Sure.

ATX Popfest Playlist – Show Saturday @Cheer Up Charlies

11895936_10207422291186088_4494044377145704198_nWe’re really excited to be part of the first ATX Popfest, trying to encourage love and adoration for our favorite local pop bands. The event features 10 of the best pop bands in Austin, and it’ll be going from 7 – Close over at Cheer Up Charlies. I figured the whole world might not be aware of our scene, so why not create a little playlist to get you hip to what we’ll be throwing down on Saturday.  Two notes, Polio Club have been battling Soundcloud, and have chosen instead to only stream their music via Tidal, so you can buy their excellent tape HERE.  Also, Literature is not officially playing, but members past and present will be playing in Tres Oui, and we’re hoping Nate will DJ late into the evening…playing indiepop hits.
