New Single & Video From Tiny Moving Parts

I’ve always had an affinity for the sounds of Minnesota based Tiny Moving Parts. The boys create a a very unique post-emo sound with my favorite screaming vocal elements similar to peers like Restorations or maybe even an Against Me. Yesterday brought a welcome surprise from the band when they announced a new 7″ single featuring two brand spanking new track. The A-side of the single, “For the Sake of Brevity”, is posted below and is sure to delight true fans of the group’s emotionally driven, raw take on their music.

The new 7″ inch vinyl is available now from Triple Crown Records.

Sound on Sound Interview: Tiny Moving Parts

tmpNext Friday Sound on Sound Fest kicks off what we hope will be an annual event. We threw out some interviews to start previewing the bands that will be gracing the stage, and we’re here with one from Tiny Moving Parts. The band has several albums under their belt, and a lot of praise has been going to this year’s release, Celebrate. Check out what Dylan had to say when we caught up with him. You can stream the new record below too! Thanks to Talia for setting this up.

Let’s Get Emotional With Prawn

unnamed (8)After seeing American Football twice during Fun Fest, I’ve found myself much more open to the slow, melodic, emo style music from the late 90s and early 00’s.  Today my need for throwback sounding emo comes our way from New Jersey based group Prawn with their new single “Seas”.  As I’ve clearly put forward already, this one is for fans of all your favorite groups from the Polyvinyl, Barsuk, Jade Tree, etc. era.  This sweet tune appears on a new split with New York’s own Moving Mountains due out November 17th on Triple Crown Records (pre-order).

Throwback Jam From Into It. Over It.

130807-into-it-over-itFor whatever reason, I’ve found myself being quite nostalgic lately and spinning tracks from the post-punk/emo era like Alkaline Trio, Saves the Day, and the like.  With that said, you can probably see why this new song “Spinning Thread” from Into it. Over it. might be something I’d fall for during my current throwback music mindset.  I immediately hear sonic qualities similar to the bands I just mentioned and that’s doing it for me today.  Beyond that, it’s a great tune with some catchy drums and a near perfect vocal delivery.

Fans can pick up new album Proper on September 24th via Triple Crown Records.
