A unique and interesting show opportunity comes to Central Presbyterian Church on Friday with a set by Western Vinyl locals Balmorhea.  To make the show even more interesting, Damien Jurado will be opening things up at 9pm.  Tickets for this one are limited and only available at Waterloo Records or End of an Ear.  Some tickets can be bought at the door if a sell out doesn’t happen prior to Friday night.  Here’s the band’s most recent single “Bowsprit” which appears on the band’s recent album hitting stores now, Constellations.

Girls are making their triumphant return to Austin on Friday and you’ve got two chances to see the band.  First up is a free Waterloo in-store starting at 5pm with the usual free keg beer.  Second is a show at The Parish along with Magic Kids and The Smith Westerns.  That Parish show has been sold out for awhile so try the free in-store or buy a ticket from a homeless guy at Logans.

Recent Hardly Art signee Le Loup is making a stop in town on this fine Monday and you’ve got two chances to see them.  The first is a free Waterloo Records in-store at 5pm with the always nice free keg beer.  After that, head over to Mohawk for a full on set with Nurses and local boys Zorch providing the opening support.  ¡Feliz día de los muertos!

Music fans in Austin get excited for Thursday as the day marks the triumphant return of indie-rockers Deer Tick to our little town.  Your first chance to see the band is at a Waterloo in-store starting around 5pm with free keg beer of course.  A full on proper set is to follow at Emo’s starting around 10pm with tickets running at $10.  Dawes and Shed Alfred will join the lineup for the later show.

In the mid-eighties, Greg Ginn’s SST Records built up an incredible reputation for raucous punk bands by the likes of Husker Du, Minutemen, & Descendents.  Phoenix’s Meat Puppets stood out from the manic pack, combining a unique blend of punk, country, and psychedelic rock.  The Pups still have a loyal fan base in Austin tracing back to the good ol’ days of Liberty Lunch.  To comemorate the release of their new record Sewn Together, Meat Puppets will be playing a free in-store at Waterloo Records.  Be there at 5… Free keg beer!  Here’s latest single “Rotten Shame”.

Bill Callahan has just been confirmed for a last minute/surprise instore at Waterloo on Friday.  As always, these events are totally free, start around 5:30pm and include free keg beer.  Check out our recent review of Bill’s new album Sometimes I wish I Were an Eagle or head elsewhere on the site to hear new single “Eid Ma Clack Shaw”.  You won’t want to miss this.

Great Nostalgic are a band that we’ve been excited about after we first caught them live during free week at Emo’s. Much to our excitement, the Austin band is finally ready to drop a proper LP your way and we promise it’s going to be one of the year’s best. We’ve got a sneak preview of the new LP with exclusive track “The Kingdom” which should get some buzz going about the effort. The band’s self-titled debut album is available now at local record stores like Waterloo and End of an Ear.

Swedish indie pop sensation Lykke Li will be making a much anticipated stop in our little town this Thursday.  Your first chance to see her live comes at a Waterloo in-store starting around 5pm.  Later in the evening, You can catch a full set by the singer at Antone’s.  If you’re planning on heading to the in-store, get their super early because the Antone’s show is already sold out.  Give craigslist a try if you just can’t miss out.
