Last Week’s Jams, Today (September 27 – October 1)

Mondays, am I right? Honestly, been struggling for energy and motivation of late, but last week had some really great tunes hit, accompanied by great albums from the likes of Semihelix, Cindy and Ducks Ltd. I chose to open with this Semihelix on the mix because I’d love to take the opening 30 seconds and put it in my pocket to carry it around with me all day. Also, unfortunately, the Humdrum track isn’t on the streaming platforms just yet, so be sure you click HERE to check that great tune out!

Wet Leg Share Wet Dream

Having already released one of my very favorite tunes of this year, it seems like Wet Leg are intent on just taking over the world, one hook-laden hit at a time. Their latest single has the band operating between coy indie rock and bratty riot girl; I love the attitude that’s delivered in the chorus. Even when the song’s calm, the lyrics just have this tongue-in-cheek playfulness that seems to exhibit everything the band is all about; there’s no stopping them if they can bring a live show as catchy as these tunes are. still waiting on an album announcement, but they’re leaving the Isle of Wight to make it overseas for some dates in New York and Cali.

Bops from June 9 – 18

We were rocking some sweet playlists, letting you catch up on what we’d been jamming on through the past week, but then we went on vacation and fell behind. So, you’ve got a whole whole lotta music to enjoy today, plus some hits from some records that came out during that time too! Just a collection of hits, and of course I’m starting it off with that ridiculously solid Wet Leg song. Enjoy my friends. Happy Monday.

Wet Leg Sign to Domino Records

Ever come across a song and feel like you’re not cool enough to be enjoying it? Or maybe its just too much fun and you feel like you’re going to drown in the hipness? Well, that’s how I’m feeling about this debut single from UK outfit Wet Leg, who just signed to Domino. The song’s got this driving rhythm to it, fueled by a pummeling drum beat that just has us running at full speed. But, the vocal delivery is definitely on par with that pseudo-spoken word vibe that’s been super popularized of late; it leads to an infectious hit that encompasses the best bits of rock n’ roll, delivering pure unadulterated fun. Pretty sure I’d have no problem being an extra in this video. Looking forward to more!
