If you frequent our website on the regular, you are well aware that we are big fans of the new material we are hearing from White Arrows. The style of the band has seemingly grown up in leaps in bounds when compared to their last effort as I’m hearing some darker tendencies in their once glowing pop sound. Here’s another new song called “Nobody Cares” that’s sure to get you just as excited for this release as we are.

We’ve already shared a couple of new tracks from White Arrows this year and I say let’s share even more new tracks from the upcoming full length. The latest single coming at you today is called “We Can’t Ever Die” and features more of those great, dancey pop sounds we’ve grown to love about the band. I’m sure many of you may find this one spinning on your DJ playlist as you prep for your dance parties this weekend.

When I first heard the White Arrows a few years back, I wasn’t sure what to make of them. But, after catching their live set, their album Dry Land is Not a Myth didn’t leave my record player for some time. They use electronic beats to collide with strong guitar work, which you get here just after the 2.5 minute mark; they then move into an explosion of pop, which is always endearing. This track below is the opener on In Bardo, their latest effort; it’s said to be a jump in a slightly new direction, and that seems to hold true, as there’s a more subdued element to this tune. Look for the band on tour this summer, with the record coming out later this year.
White Arrows is a band that we’ve been following now for a few years and our fandom has been growing ever since. Now it’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything from these guys so it was exciting to hear about this new track “Leave it Alone”. I’m hearing a more mature band on this track than what has been offered in the past. The music is still poppy of course, but a more focused, electronic sound is definitely here.
New album, In Bardo, is coming this fall via Votiv.
It’s really hard to narrow down a list of Top Albums of 2012, especially when you have four contributors with different opinions. We gave the reins to Nathan.Lankford and Nicole Baumann on this one, since they write the majority of the album reviews, but we all have a little representation within this. Now, we do realize that our site has specialized tastes, so please realize that these are our OPINIONS. You’re welcome to disagree, and, in fact, we encourage that process. Also, we’re doing a Top 100 because so many records came out this year, it wouldn’t be fair to narrow it down. Not to mention it might lead you to discover some hits you hadn’t heard about yet. Oh, and we don’t really like Frank Ocean or hip-hop…just a personal choice…here’s the first segment.
Last Thursday was a busy night for music. Poor Fiona.
After taking Dustin Wong, The Walkmen and Beach House, ATH hit two other shows including one we were presenting at Red7. White Arrows was back in town as a headliner after playing the opening slot for Beat Connection, a show where the headliner was bested. It was good to see these guys come back through and put forth another great set.
Read on for a few deets and pics.
Hey folks, I know Thursday is super packed with great bands in town, but if you’re going to some of the early shows, like Fiona Apple or Beach House, then afterwards you need to join us over at Red 7. We’re stoked to be working with Transmission to present White Arrows in their glorious return to Red 7. I am still enjoying their latest release, Dry Land Is Not a Myth, which is filled with hooks galore. Last time we caught the band, they absolutely blew us away, giving us a stronger live show than I think any of us expected. They’ll be joined by friends Young Buffalo to open up the evening, and with Doors @ 9 PM, you’ll have time to finish your beer and round out your night pop bliss.
Tickets – $8 from Transmission

Well, everyone else is doing it, so why don’t we? We’re going to toss out our top five albums of the year, except we’ll be doing it with our four main contributors, so hopefully that’ll mix things up a bit. Obviously, we’re only half-way through the year, so things are subject to change, and by things I mean our minds.
We gathered our team together this past Thursday, hoping to catch a great show over at Red 7. Two of the much-hyped Interweb bands would be taking to the stage, so we figured we had to be there to see what they really had to offer. Our photographer Brian was on hand to snap some great pics despite being forced to shoot from behind and around the ridiculous amount of video cameras present.
Great show going down this Thursday at Red 7 with some of the best to offer in the world of electronic pop music. Headlining the show is buzz worthy band Beat Connection who seem to be blowing up right before our very eyes. The undercard of this one is also great with two ATH favorite bands in the form of White Arrows and Brothertiger. We’re going to be there and we hope you’ll join us.
