Last Week’s Jams (7.17 – 7.21)

We’re still in the middle of a great year of music, and as we hit that sweet spot, there seem to be more tracks coming out every day; we try to cover as much as we can, but admittedly, we’re not perfect! It was really nice to see Emma Anderson of Lush pop her head up with a brand new track from her forthcoming solo LP. Personally, I loved that new Pachyman jam, as that guy rules and I’m totally hoping everyone catches on to his vibe. A little Austin love for Holy Wave who continue to impress with the sounds of their new LP. Then there’s old ATH faves like Pia Fraus and Tan Cologne, plus the Who Is She supergroup making the cut too. Browse, stream, enjoy.

Who Is She Share 96 Ghouls

Who Is She is going to be on everyone’s playlist this week I reckon, as the band’s a supergroup made up of members of Chastity Belt, Lisa Prank and Tacocat, leaving us with the impression that there’s no way you can’t like this! You immediately get this bob and weave from the bass line as you press play, flirting with that sort of frantic post-punk as the guitars knife their way into the picture. Two vocal pieces impact your listening, with a sedate vocal in the front of the mix, while you get an emphatic group chant jumping in to punch up the style. I’ve only heard one track, and I know I’ll be grabbing their Goddess Energy LP; it drops on August 25th via Father Daughter Records.

Infectious Pop from Who Is She

Surely this is going to be the hottest release of the year, am I right? Part Chastity Belt, part Lisa Prank, Part Tacocat…Who Is She are all parts awesome. Yesterday the trio dropped this bouncing number on the world, and it’s going to be hard for you not to give it a spin, even if you’ve already done so. Honestly, this seems like the group took the remnants of garage rock, shined it up and made it fun again. They’ll be releasing a Seattle Gossip, their newest LP, on October 6th via Father Daughter Records.
