After a semi-tragic day in Austin, a return to innocence was much needed. Fortunately for me, and about 2000 other people, Pavement would provide the necessary cure for all those lucky enough to get into Stubbs. Follow the jump for review and fancy photos.

Sub Pop kids Happy Birthday are making a stop in town this Friday at United States Art Authority. Making the show more enticing, recent Hardly Art signee and locals Woven Bones will also be on the stage. Rounding things out and opening the show up for everybody are Residual Echoes. Should be a great option to see some good music on the cheap Friday night.

We always get a little excited around here when a local band we like gets picked up by a big indie label. So imagine our excitement when news dropped yesterday that our very own Woven Bones have been picked up by indie label Hardly Art. The first release on the band’s new label will be a 7″ single featuring two new songs from the group. You’ll find one of the new tracks below and the other one streaming on the Sound Cloud website. Congrats guys!

It seems that nowadays, everyone is jumping back into the Austin music scene. Recently, P4K raved about our very own Woven Bones, and you’ll all get a chance to catch this dark psychedelic act in action tonight at Beerland. It’s super cheap, so you really don’t have a reason not to go, right? To top it off, you’ll also get to see Miami’s Jacuzzi Boys and Austin’s OBN III. It’s a night dedicated to debauchery, or so the music would indicate. Regardless, lets go out there and celebrate our local scene.
