Deluxe Edition of Ultramarine promotion continues.
Young Galaxy has another track up to send a shiver to your giggly bits. This one has a bit of a Eurythmics feel, in their darker times, a track Marilyn Manson would consider remaking. Maybe it can restart his career. I have seen pictures from recent shows. I guess he still tours. I have never seen Nathan and Marilyn Manson together. I am suspicious.
Back to Young Galaxy, I like this song. Quite a bit. You should, too.

I’m not so interested in the re-release of Ultramarine, but sometimes a deluxe edition comes with a new track or two. Young Galaxy decided to share a single called “Sea Drug”.
It is a lovely piece of pop music that has subtle flourishes throughout, thoughtful and crafty production. Use that first link in the post to preorder your copy of Ultramarine which includes B-Sides and a “Crying My Heart Out”.

It’s that time of year where everyone on the Internet is throwing in their two cents as to what the best records of the year are, at least up to this point. We thought we’d give it our own go, with each of us tossing out our choices. I can tell it’s going to be a huge fight come time to make our year end list.
Nothing quite like figuring out that you still have 1600 shots to go through after six posts already up for SxSW…
Sorry, SxSW seems like a distant memory, but I may just rekindle some fond memories of the smaller shows that you should have gone to. Official SxSW stuff, I have already shared the shots of The Flaming Lips headlined party and Iggy and The Stooges. This gallery has shots of Mompox, Young Galaxy, Local Natives, Gold Fields, Shout Out Louds, Shout Out Out Out, GEMS and more. If you click, you will also get a few quick notes on winners and losers.
So do it. Sing with me, MEEEMMMOOOORRRIIIEESS!!!11!shift+1
The IT Dept. is going to SxSW.
My picks for stuff to see is based solely on random selection, what I heard recently that caught my ear while perusing the intarwebs and names that I am happy to see on the list of showcasing artists. SxSW is like that; follow your folly. You will always miss something. You will always hear about some big thing that you can’t go to. So ,take a chance with me and the ATH IT Dept. and dance a little, because I am going digitally affected for my list. Read more
I’ll admit that I’m a bit late on this one (asshole), but it seemed appropriate to share since I’ve enjoyed the tunes of Young Galaxy since we first posted about them a few years ago. This new song “Youth is Wasted on the Young” is a bit more heavy/dark than what we’ve grown used to from the group and offers something more along the lines of a Metric-ish sound. This one is the B-side to a new 7″ from the group Shoreless Kid which is available for only $5 from Paperbag Records.

I’ve really been enjoying this new jam “Cover Your Track” from Young Galaxy that seems to be popping up on every website I read regularly. The song is set to appear on the band’s third LP Shapeshifting due out Feb. 8th on Paper Bag Records. You can also check out the first single from the album “Peripheral Visionaries” over on amigo’s website GvB.

As the way we purchase music slowly begins to change, bands without major label support are finding new ways to promote their music. We’re fortunate to find out that Young Galaxy has used one of those ways, releasing their free No Art EP to the masses. The EP features remixes and songs recorded during their sessions for their last album. But, while you spend your time listening here, you should lay in wait, as the band has completed the recording of their new album, and are sending it out for final touches. Hopefully it comes out later this year!

Montreal band Young Galaxy are getting ready to release a follow up to their stellar 2007 self-titled album. The new album will be called Invisible Republic and is set to come out sometime this year. A preview of the new album is available now with this track “Long Live the Fallen World”. We hope the new tune gets you just as excited as we are about the band’s upcoming sophomore effort. Young Galaxy will also be making some appearances during SXSW in a couple weeks.
