  • If Trent Reznor wanted to generate buzz for his own upcoming project and tour with Janes Addiction, instead of awkwardly trashing a peer on Twitter, Reznor could have simply done what other entertainers do before a big project release– go on CNN and complain about politics, release a weblog lecturing us on the Environment, or just get indicted on alcohol or drug related charges.

Spitting on a respected peer with no provocation at all is hardly a way to “win friends and influence people.” And for slightly mature adults like myself who enjoy both artists, this is all a bit too “teen-idol” for my taste. At best, this Reznor generated feud is like a throwback to those good old East Coast/West Coast debacle that always ended with a touchdown of hilarity! At worst, it may urge me to ignore Trent’s next project completely.

Why? Simply to revive within myself ye olde advice moms and pops dropped on me back in the 70’s when I was just a wee little lad steeling listens to my older brother’s Journey vinyls when he wasn’t home… “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I know, I know… The concept is somewhat juvenile. But then again, OMG, Like, so is slamming your BFF on Twitter.
