Show Pics: Father John Misty @ The Mohawk (5/26)

The day after Ty and Suckers, I “had to” go to The Mohawk to see Father John Misty with Har Mar Superstar and Dana Falconberry.

It was a very contrasting set of bands. Dana Falconberry‘s solemn folk melody gave way to Har Mar‘s jams and cock buffet invites led to J. Tillman’s mix of the two. To PYAITK, Father John Misty is J Tillman‘s project after leaving Fleet Foxes. He also played drums for Har Mar during their run out on the road.

It was a strange evening. And I got a decent Har Mar headstand pic, finally…

Dana Falconberry‘s project should set up residency in the Parish. Instruments are flung about, melody delivered in high levels.

Har Mar Superstar (Sean Tillman – no relation) performed the song-by-song strip show. He is going to be back in town mixing the new album and as mentioned above, ladies are invited to the cock buffet. Just ladies. Or at least I think he just invited the ladies. Either way, I am sure we’ll see him around town. New material is like the old material, suggestive danceable grooves. “Four shots of Jagermeister…”

OK, notes straight from my phone for Father John Misty:

  • He is a show talker at his own show. #schtick
  • “Hollywood Forever…” missing the production of the studio track.
  • Folk Jams meets Axl Rose.
  • Salt Lake City is in the house, hat to prove it.
  • Closed with “Night Games” morphing into “Do You Realize”.

On to the pics, and there are a few more at the photo site
