ACL Interview: Nightbox

nightboxUnless you’ve been under a rock or something, I’m sure you are aware that our annual ACL Festival is taking place this weekend in Zilker park.  Now we’ve already shared a few interviews with you guys and today we’re pumping out several more.  This one features up and coming indie-electro group Nightbox.  Every band member gets in on this one with some great responses.  Follow the jump for more.

Nightbox is comprised of Jacob Bitove, Nick Bitove, James Tibber, and Andrew Keyes.

ATH: Have you ever been to Austin? Anything you look forward to doing while here?
Keyes: We’ve been here a couple times actually. We’ve been here for SXSW and have played with Dragonette at Red7. There’s so much that I’d like to do while I’m here, but checking out Barton Springs pool and eating at Franklin BBQ are definitely at the top of the list.

ATH: Have you had a chance to check out the festival lineup? Anyone you are looking forward to seeing or hanging out with?
Jacob: Can’t wait to check out Outkast, St. Vincent & Temples. We’re bummed that we’re missing our mate Hozier’s performance by a day but hopefully everyone else can catch his killer set. Snowmine put on a sweet set too.

ATH: On that note, are you guys more of a festival band or a small venue type band?
Nick: They’re different animals. We’ll play anywhere and make sure people have a good time.

ATH: For fans at the festival looking for new bands to check out, how would you describe your music?
Tebbitt: It’s the Nightbox version of feel-good, pop music.

ATH: If you had to come up with a band slogan to promote yourself at the festival, what would it be?
Tebbitt: Nightbox gives you wings.

ATH: What’s playing in the Nightbox tour van right now?
Keyes: We’re currently taking it in turns to upload our own personal playlists at the moment. Nick’s “Badlands” playlist was the first to be uploaded. Check it out on play.spotify.com/user/nightbox

ATH: What’s the current music scene like in Toronto? Any bands we need to be paying special attention to?
Keyes: The music scene is fantastic in the city. No matter what bar or club you walk into, you’re guaranteed to find a new favourite band. I’ve been listening to Greys’ album all summer.

Nightbox will be playing on Saturday of weekend one only on the Sculptures Stage @ 1:15.
