SXSW Interview: The Muckers
We’re continually drawing ever near to the SXSW music festival and the ATH crew is very ready for the music and a break from work. It’s fun finding some new bands prior to the festival, and Brooklyn based outfit The Muckers is just one of those bands. They sort of have a White Reaper meets more glam-y T. Rex type of sound. Should be a fantastic show. Follow the jump for the responses from The Muckers.

ATH: What’s the name of the band/group? Where are you from?
EM: We are The Muckers from Brooklyn, New York
ATH: Describe your groups sound.
EM: Rock N Roll
ATH: What was your most recent release? Any planned releases from 2020?
EM: Our new Single “Roll The Dice” from our debut album just came out on Greenway Records! Debut Album will be out later this year.
ATH: For most SXSW sets, you get 30 minutes to leave a lasting impression. Whats your plan of attack? You have a set list mapped out yet?
EM: 30 minutes of squeegeeing your mind and body, leaving you wondering around like a bowl of jello.
ATH: Let’s say your band has been booked an official showcase at a pop up venue somewhere in the middle of 6th street. The lineup features thrash metal, hip-hop, spoken word, and you. The sound is horrible, the lineup is not your style, and the crowd is growing ancy. How would your band deal with such a situation?
EM: Those are the most/best moments because you just play as loud as you want, and we don’t mind doing that.
ATH: There are tons of bands coming into town. Of the 1000+ bands coming into town, who would you ideally like to play with. Which band friends will be here?
EM: So many friends are coming to Austin this year and we’re sharing the stage with some of them! Ideally we wanna play with everyone haha! Our close friends Native Sun from New York will be there which we are driving and touring to SXSW together! Shadow Show from Detroit, Miranda And The Beat from New York and so many others
ATH: What has everyone in the band been listening to, or, what plays in the tour van/car/bus?
EM: We kinda share music with each other all the time and it could be Thrash Metal song or a Jazz Drummer playing saxophone! We’re just looking for that perfect sound in every music to get inspired! Listening to Matthew Wilder – “Break my Stride” these days a lot.
ATH: Describe your perfect festival, real or not? Whos headlining? Wheres it take place? Etc.
EM: The Muckers headlining this giant festival with all our favorite bands Somewhere in Amazon.
ATH: Whats on the bands rider? If were bringing you food and booze, what can we bring you?
EM: Ginger Shots, Fireball, High Life Miller
ATH: The band gets to create their own taco pop-up shop at SXSW? Whats the name, and what sort of tacos will you have? Any sides?
EM: Regular street tacos (corn tortillas, choice of protein, chopped onion, cilantro, green or red sauce) called Stop Mucking With Tacos!
