Stream New Album From Grimson

Berlin based Grimson has really been catching our ear over in the ATH offices as of late. Already we’ve been treated to two new singles over the last few months, and now we have the entire new album to stream below! Climbing up the Chimney is a showcase of all the things that make the young Aiden Berglund a true spotlight of a songwriter in the game today. He has a delicate nature to things with folk inspirations and light hints of brightness throughout the entire album. Check out this beauty below and also consider picking up a physical copy via bandcamp.

Grimson Announces Climbing Up the Chimney

When Grimson was a young child, he began to pen the ideas of what would turn into his latest track, “Round Trip Ticket;” it was a track detailing the separation of his family across continents. But, as his songwriting proficiency advanced, notes and details turned into this fully fleshed out bit of baroque pop. From the start, there’s this swelling bounce that tosses you on the saddle and ushers you into the track; it gives the song this steady beat, allowing for the rest of the arrangement to really fill in the details. And what a great job there, as sweeping strings and Grimson’s Beatles-esque vocals seem to wrap match that bounce and build in this stunning texture. If you’re digging it, Climbing Up the Chimney is the name of the new LP, and it hits on September 1st.

Sheer Stunner From Grimson

Berlin based artist Aiden Berglund has a new album coming out in September under his recording moniker Grimson and I think it might just be one of my favorites of the year. Without saying too much more and spoiling the surprise, I suggest you check out this new single “Leave it Like You Found It” and see for yourself why I am so hyped on this new music. It has this very delicate and intimate beginning which lures you in with its beauty but then the song opens up with a jolt of energy to give it this highly engaging and inviting feel. Truly a lovely piece of songwriting.

The aforementioned new album entitled Climbing Up the Chimney is due out on September 1st.

Last Week’s Jams (8.28 – 9.1)

It was definitely a busy week on my end, but we pushed through and still managed to crank out some really great music for you all. RayRay got to run the sweet new album stream for Grimson‘s new LP, and I was just hopping all over the place like musical ADHD music junkie I am. Had some good power-pop from the Slow Summits and Colored Lights, to give you some energy. Some great ballad work by Austin artists Feeling Small and Daily Worker to warm and make you cry at once. Plus, I got to bump that new jam from Pachyman, not to mention our weekly dose of all the goods from Australia like Lower Plenty, Screensaver, and Vintage Crop. Stream on below, amigo!

Let Jaye Bartell Sweep You Away With This Video

So I shared this track a few weeks back when it was released as a b-side to a single that Jaye Bartell did with Angel Olsen. However, the video for this track is just as nearly as beautiful as the track itself, so I feel compelled to bring it to your attention once more. Bartell’s deep yet clear vocals and slow ballad, set to the gorgeous black and white video begs for your attention. He sings about losing time day after day, and the video provides the perfect visual companion to this perfect folk track. Take a peek below.

Jaye Bartell Shares New Track With Angel Olsen

Jaye Bartell has been crafting poetic tunesfor a while now, spinning new tunes to match the passing of time. 2017 sees him recording new material, including these two tracks you can take a listen to below. While both feature his distinct vocals and elegant songwriting, each has their own strengths. The first song, “Dance With Me,” includes the beautiful addition of vocals from Angel Olsen to harmonize with Bartell’s dulcet tones. It’s a gorgeous track that reminds me a bit of some Silver Jews tunes. If you stick around and spin the second song, “Slow Going,” you’ll be pulled in by the storytelling that Bartell brings to the table. Take a listen and enjoy these beautiful tunes.

Striking Tune from Jaye Bartell

jayeEver stumble across one of those tracks that stuck with you for an eternity, yet you couldn’t quite explain it? This brand new song from Jaye Bartell might be precisely the tune you’ve been looking for. It’s got quite simple lyrical content, merely a recounting of the mundane. But, both the guitar tones working against the heavy voice of Bartell really sank in, getting under my skin like few things do. His latest album, Light Enough, is being released by Sinderlyn on April 29th, so be sure to keep your sights on what could be a really special collection of tracks.
