So our lovely weekend is over and it’s time for us to begin recapping what went down over the ACL Festival days. To do that, we’ll begin with an interview conducted right before the weekend with Midlake guitar player Eric Pulido. We’ve long been fans of the Midlake sound so we were excited to have some time with Eric. Follow the jump for more.
Well ACL Festival is finally upon us in just a couple short days and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s a busy time of year, but the fun and debauchery throughout the weekend always rewards us for all the hard work we put in. Leading up to the weekend we sent a few questions to The Morning Benders leading man Chris Chu. I first discovered David Bazan and his work in Pedro the Lion when I was just a young lad in my early high school years. I was always drawn to Bazan’s early post-emo work and have continued to follow his career for the last 10 years or so. Being such a big fan of his work in Pedro, Headphones, and now solo, I was pretty excited to land an interview with Bazan to preview his spot on the ACL festival roster this weekend. ACL continues to draw ever closer and we here at ATH are starting to get hyped up for the festival. In preparation, we had an opportunity to send some questions over to Walter Gervers of Oxford band Foals. As we lead up to our little ACL Festival in October, we here at ATH want to start focusing in on some of the lesser known acts coming into town. Our first look brings us Glendale, CA based indie group The Henry Clay People. Lucky for you and the ATH crew, this band will be making a stop in town next week with Against Me! before their ACL Festival slotted date. Last week we brought you new of a new album from local popsters Hollywood Gossip, and we were fortunate enough to get an interview with the band’s Tyler Womack and Justin Crowell. This should give you a bit more insight into the group, as well as ideas about their new album Dear as Diamonds. Little is known about Hotlanta band Twin Tigers other than us knowing that we dig their tunes. That music loving side of us therefore lead us to believe that you guys should really get to know this band and learn a little about them. So way back during Fun Fest, Twin Tigers made it through town and we had the chance to speak with frontman Mathew Rain about his band. Ever since the first time I heard “Jordanna,” I was possessed with the songs of David Wingo. His group, Ola Podrida, has just released their newest album, Belly of the Lion, which is one of the best albums to come out of Austin (well, sort of NYC) this year, and we were lucky enough to catch up with David before he hits the road in 2010.
