Silent Land Time Machine @ Emo’s (1/23)

One of our favorite new up and coming bands in Austin, Silent Land Time Machine, will be playing at the new outfloor portion of Emo’s on Friday night.  They will be joined on the stage by two other Austin acts The Tiny Tin Hearts & Silver Pines.  Doors for the show are set to open at 8pm with music at 9pm.  Tickets will be sold only at the door. Check out our review of the band’s latest effort & Hope Still to get an idea of why we think so highly of these guys.

P.S. – Has anyone seen this new outfloor yet?

Jennifer O’ Connor @ Stubbs – 1/20

The beautiful voice of Jennifer O’ Connor will be making its way into Austin tonight. Her folky singer/songwriter set is set to open of for Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls tonight at Stubbs, but we’re sure that the Matador signee O’ Connor will be the one who steals the show with her passion-filled harmonies.  It’s Tuesday, so what do you have to lose?

Brothers And Sisters @ Mohawk (1/17)

Choices for weekend shows are looking pretty slim, but one bright spot on the map is a Brothers & Sisters show at Mohawk on Saturday.  The local Austin band has been getting a lot of well deserved praise this year with the release of their solid debut LP Fortunately.  Having seen these guys a few times now, we can tell you that this will be a show you don’t want to miss out on.  Show starts at 9 with tickets being sold only at the door.

If you aren’t heading to Mohawk for The Donkeys show, The So So Glos are another good option for some Tuesday evening fun at Emo’s.  The band is yet another up and coming Brooklyn based outfit who are gaining some notoriety outside of New York.  They’ll be playing along with Austin’s own Scorpion Child with doors opening at 8pm.  Best news of all, the whole thing is free!

The Donkeys @ The Mohawk – 1/13

This Tuesday evening California’s The Donkeys will make their way into Austin. Something about this band begs to be noticed, and perhaps it’s the sunshine of bands like Beulah that make this a show we should all attend as winter dances in and out of our lives. The show goes down at The Mohawk, on the inside stage no less. Our friends over at Transmission Entertainment tell us the show kicks off at 10 PM.
