Princeton have just released their new album Cocoon of Love, and we’ll definitely get a review of it up shortly. This new tune is little bit more laid back than the previous “Calypso Gold” single, and it features the vocals of Meredith Metcalf. You’ll definitely want to check out the record if you enjoy this tune, as this is definitely a group with a rising star.

If you’re appetite for live music hasn’t been quenched by the madness that is ACL, make your way to the Parish on Monday night for a set by Oxford, MS band Colour Revolt. Local support will be provided by Winston Audio and Ume. Now we’ve seen this band a few times before and we can honestly say that this one will be worth wiping the dust off your face and shaking off your ACL hangover.

If you haven’t checked out the kid show Yo Gabba Gabba, you really should make a point to do so. Besides featuring some musical guests like Mates of State, The Shins, and MGMT, the show is fairly entertaining and goofy. The Nick Jr. show is also about to put out a soundtrack on October 2oth called Music is Awesome… which features some solid indie acts like The Roots, Chromeo, and this new track from Of Montreal. Also try searching Yo Gabba Gabba on youtube and watch some clips from the show. They are sure to get a laugh… or at least make you not want to grow up.

It’s that time of year again and the free sampler from the small indie labels continue to roll in. This one from Park the Van is super rad because it features this sweet song from The Spinto Band that I just can’t get enough of. This rather lagre sampler features 13 tracks from Spinto Band, Dr. Dog, Generationals and a whole bunch of others. Get your hand on it now.

So maybe The Secret Machines have fallen a bit on hard times with the critics, but does that mean they can’t bring the house down with a live show anymore? I think not. Head over to Emo’s on Wednesday night for one of these face melting shows from this once time Dallas based band. Openers will be Ringo Deathstarr and Imaad Wasif.

We spotlighted The Authors a few weeks back as one of our favorite new local acts we think you should check out if you get a chance. Speaking of chance, they play this week at Art Disaster No. 9, which is Thursday. Until then, we hope to hold you over with one of their newest tracks. We hope you support these guys, and if not, at least you have a sweet new track to grab onto for the day.

What can you do when you’re part of the great roster at Sub Pop but continue to be overlooked by the masses? Well, you switch up labels (Bakery Outlet), and you just keep writing great tunes. That is precisely the way of Holopaw, who are set to release their new album Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness. This new tune, along with the upcoming album, makes me want to go revisit their old catalogue it’s that good.

Last year, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson swept into our top albums of the year, and he looks like he’s trying to make it for two years in a row. He’s about to release his new album Summer of Fear on Saddle Creek Records (it’s already available on iTunes) on October 20th. The production on “The Sound” is a lot stronger than the previous album, and you might just be able to pick out a few of Miles’ friends.
