New Music From Sea Pinks

Ah yes, that old familiar new band smell is in the air today with a new tune called “Fountain Tesserae” from UK outfit Sea Pinks.  The new project is fronted by a familiar face in the form of Neil Brogan who spends most of his musical time in indie hit makers Girls Names.  Neil’s new project has a debut LP Dead Seas ready for release physically and digitially on September 6th via CF/Records.

New Music From Southerly

Here’s a new song called “Without A Cause” from Portland, OR based band Southerly.  Those unfamiliar with the group should know that it’s basically a straight up side project from Portland based songwriter Krist Krueger.  This track will appear on a new upcoming album from the band Youth due out September 20th on Greyday Records.  It’s got a great driving rock sound.

More New Music From Gem Club

Here’s another new chill single called “Twins” from recent Hardly Art pickup Gem Club.  I’ll admit that I was at first reluctant to give in to the swooning voice of Christopher Barnes, but I’m now coming back to his John Lamonica style vocals more and more.  As we previously mentioned, debut LP from Gem ClubDreamers, is due out September 17th on Hardly Art.  Give it a listen.

More New Music from Light for Fire

Last month I brought you an incredible track from Light for Fire, and they’ve just pushed out another little single for the masses.  This time around, they give you a bit more of a folk-troubadour sound, but you know that’s never a bad thing in our book.  It seems that every track this band puts out just begs to be played over and over again, regardless of where you are.  Their self-titled album is out now, and available for your pleasure, so take my advice, as this is a collection of songs that won’t leave your record player for some time.

New Song from Elba

There seems to be a small amount of buzz growing behind Seattle group Elba, and I’m here to further their endeavor.  In September, the group will be releasing their self-titled album, which will hopefully put the band’s name out there.  On this track, the ringing guitar floating is mesmerizing, while the quieted backing vocals provide a new level of depth to the song’s sound.  Like me, you’ll scour the Internet for more tracks; you can find one on their BANDCAMP, and another HERE.  All signs point to a great release to further our already busy listening schedule in the fall.

New Jam from Wavves

Finally! I’ve got something on Nathan Williams! I’ve actually met Dave Grohl. Twice. Why does this matter you ask? Well, Nathan, and his band, Wavves, just released a new track tonight, “I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl,” which will appear on the band’s Life Sux EP, which hits the stores on September 20th. Honestly, I wasn’t entirely convinced of Williams’ talent until the last year and a half or so, but he’s cleaned up the production, and included great hooks, like those you’ll find here.  His star was rising long ago, but I feel as if this will only continue if he progresses the way he’s been heading.  I mean, come on, just look at that face.  Put that with a track like this and you’re bound to be a huge success. Now, if only I can get that girl from Best Coast to be my girlfriend.

More New Music from Gross Magic

A few weeks ago I brought you a jam from UK up-and-comer Gross Magic.  I’m going to go ahead and take credit for pushing this band on the masses, as they seem to be exploding on the Interwebs at this moment. As we get closer to the American release date of the Teen Jamz EP on October 11th via Fat Possum, more music is floating out.  One listen to this beat-laden track, and you’ll begin to realize precisely why I find GM so interesting, making the sound more than just your average pop collage piece.  This is definitely one of my favorite short EPs of the year.

New Chamber Pop from Miracles of Modern Science

You’ve got to love the progression of modern string instruments, moving beyond classical music and into the mainstream with bands like Arcade Fire and Final Fantasy.  This trend continues with your introduction to Miracles of Modern Science, a band bred in the Ivy Leagues.  They’ll be releasing their new record, Dog Years, next week, and it’s definitely going to catch the ears of many, as it employs creativity and hooks that grab you right away.  Clever instrumentation can only go so far, but it’s clear that this band has so much more to offer, so spend some time with this track below in order to fall in love like we did over here at ATH.

New Tunes from ARMS (Todd Goldstein of Harlem Shakes)

In case you missed out on the now defunct Harlem Shakes, I’m here to let you know you missed something quite special.  For now, we can all make due with ARMS, the project of Todd Goldstein, formerly of HS.  He’s done some work on his own, but he’s now recruited a few friends to help flesh out the sound of ARMS.  His new moniker in tow, he’ll be releasing Summer Skills on November 8.  Some of the tracks, like the one below, you can find on a free EP over on the group’s BANDCAMP, but as for the rest, you’ll have to wait until November before you get to fall wholeheartedly in love.

New Music From Nurses

I’ve really enjoyed the music created by Portland based outfit Nurses since the first time I heard their track “Caterpillar Playground”.  This new tune called “Trying to Reach You” found below is making me an even bigger fan of the group.  You can get your hands on a new LP entitled Dracula from Nurses on September 20th via Dead Oceans.  Me gusta.
