Yes yes I know this is officially listed as a Say Anything show, but didn’t the Emo movement die in like ’02? Thats out of the way, so let me put it out there that I like Eisley. Yeah I like ’em. I’m sure some of you music snob types will throw hate my way for that one, but just look at those faces! How could you not love those ladies? So if you dig the Eisley, head to Emo’s on Tuesday night for a set by the Tyler, TX (holla!) group. Miniature Tigers and Moneen also being on the bill should prove to make the show your best option for Tuesday night. Just leave before that headlining band…

The guys in Hot Hot Heat have been relatively quiet since their 2007 release Happiness Ltd. While I may be in the minority, I actually enjoyed several songs on that release and I’m excited to hear that the guys are back with new material for 2010. So here’s a taste of that new material below with a song called “Future Breeds” which sees the band shedding a bit of their poppy/dancey sound we used to love. Maybe the guys will mature a bit and find a new and more grown up sound. Head over to SPIN for another new song and more details on the new year’s release.

ATX Converge put on a free party about this time last year and they are getting back in the game with a $5 show at Mohawk on Saturday night. The lineup is stacked with local talent and includes Moth! Fight!, Black Cock, Cowabunga Babez, La Guerilla, White White Lights, Missions, Butcher Bear and Charlie, Capybara, and DJ Hobo D. Should be one incredible night to sample some of the best local music Austin has to offer.

Not really sure how we originally missed Hurricane Bells, the new solo project from Longwave lead singer/songwriter Steve Schiltz. The band/side project of Mr. Schiltz just released a debut album on Vagrant this week called Tonight Is The Ghost and we’ve really been enjoying what we hear. Before we make some time to give the album a proper review, check out this single “This Year”. It starts as a bit of a slow burner and then builds up into a poppy little tune that should sound nice to your ears.

London dance hits makers Hot Chip are back with new material and a new LP planned for 2010. The new album will be called One Life Stand and features this new single “Take it In”. You’ll be able to get your hands on the new album in February via Astralwerks.

Thanks to our friend over at GvsB for pointing out to us that local juggernaut The Strange Boys have a new song, “Be Brave,” up at their Myspace Page. Said song is slated to be released on an upcoming 7″ in January, and will also be included on the group’s next record…word on the street is that hits stores in February.
NYC band Longwave are celebrating their final show of the year at Bowery Ballroom on Saturday by giving away a free song each day this week. Yesterdays new and previously unreleased song was called “Disappointed” and it’s been getting heavy rotation in the ol itunes. Be sure to check the band’s website each day this week for more previously unreleased and new tracks.

He made our top Halloween songs list last year and now we think you should go check out Mr. Rob Zombie at Austin Music Hall on Tuesday. Not sure what the music will sound like, but we do know that the spectacle should be worth the price of admission. Openers include Nekromantixm and Captain Clegg & The Night Creatures.

Oh man. We really like you Jaguar Love. We really do. But what is this new direction you’re going in? I guess we should have seen it coming when drummer J. Clark left the band and Johnny and Cody continued on as a two piece. This new song is sort of a techno sounding number with way too much production work and the same lyric chanted over and over. Let’s hope that more new material is on the way with more of that old punch and energy. Maybe it’s not sooo bad, but it really makes me want to try out as drummer for the band. This track will appear on a new album from Jaguar Love out sometime in 2010 via Fat Possom.
