There’s really too many shows to narrow it down to two or three best bets. We’ve got friends band playing left and right, so all we can do is encourage you to attend some sort of musical event…even if its just for a bit. Without further adieu, here’s a list of rad shows you could hit up.
I already talked about several docs and the features I took in, no it is time for the music docs to take the stage. From the obscure and the hidden, the backbone of the beat, to the rise and fall of an empire and the rise of a movement, let’s take a look at what you need to keep an eye out for in the coming months. I am hoping a few will make it to the Alamo Drafthouse so you can hear them as much as see them. All hail crowd-funding.

It’s that time once again folks, the weekend! Now, SXSW is nigh so we sort of (not really) understand if you want to stay home out of the somehow still cold weather. But if you’re like us and just can’t resist the live tunes, here’s a list of the shows, in no particular order that you shouldn’t be missing tonight and tomorrow night.

Hard to believe that SXSW is drawing ever near as the weeks seem to be flying by in anticipation. Today we bring you even more coverage with an interview from Portland based indie group Melville. As I’ve been doing, these are just some questions to build press for upcoming bands, get their feel for SXSW, and see what they think about our great city. Follow the jump for responses.

I will freely admit to being pretty stoked for many friends and faves of the ATH. A. Sinclair, Grapet St, Shivery Shakes, Ramesh, Hundred Visions, Think No Think, Gal Pals, Moonlight Towers and Roger Sellers. I mean, it is Austin’s year to take this conference back from the invaders. However, they will have to contend with artists like Best Coast, Futurebirds, Diarrhea Planet, Beacon, Broncho, Palma Violets, Joywave and Jeff the Brotherhood, as well as all the big names already announced.

It’s that time of week again that we all know and love… its end! Here’s a list of all the shows you could and should be attending this Friday through Sunday. Enjoy the fact that you live in a city that not only has killer live tunes always, and that it never really gets too cold for you to go out and enjoy them. A lot of these shows, as per usual, include some of the great local bands currently crushing it, so find someone you haven’t seen yet and cross ’em off your list.

These lists are everywhere, so you’ll be excused if you just roll your eyes and skip on. But, that being said, we always seem to be way off the mark when it comes to our Top 50 Albums of the Year. Sure, we have some of the sure fire hits on this list like Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten, but don’t even read on if you’re look ing to see where Run the Jewels made it…they’re not there. This is it! The day you’ve all been waiting for! The end of our FFF! Brian shot great photos, and we all had a blast. Thanks, of course, to Giant Noise and Transmission for the privilege of allowing us to cover your festival. Hope everyone had a great time.
Ugh. I’m really in a rock n’ roll mood as of late. I’m just tired of the indie rock tropes, so I just want something I can turn up really loud…today it just happens to be Furrow. The UK act have recently released their West Felton LP via Bleeding Gold Records, and this tune is probably one of my favorites. Starting slow, it picks up pretty quickly with this fuzzy riff and bouncing drum beat; vocals are shouted our way with a bit of ferocity. It’s simple in the grand scheme of things, but often those are the things that blow me away the most. Give this a whirl folks.
