Soccer Mommy Drop New Tunes

A whole ton of praise has been given to Nashville based Sophie Allison and her musical project known as Soccer Mommy. We’ve certainly boarded the hype train for her music over the years and have seen her well deserved popularity and success grow. After her growth last year, Allison stayed relatively quiet on the new music front, but is returning today with her brand new single “lucy”. It has that same sort of mellow, shoe-gazy vibe to it but with a bit more of a polished sound sure to invite even more fans into the fold. If you dig, the song will be released in November via a 7-inch single on Loma Vista Recordings.

New Single & Video From Tiny Moving Parts

I’ve always had an affinity for the sounds of Minnesota based Tiny Moving Parts. The boys create a a very unique post-emo sound with my favorite screaming vocal elements similar to peers like Restorations or maybe even an Against Me. Yesterday brought a welcome surprise from the band when they announced a new 7″ single featuring two brand spanking new track. The A-side of the single, “For the Sake of Brevity”, is posted below and is sure to delight true fans of the group’s emotionally driven, raw take on their music.

The new 7″ inch vinyl is available now from Triple Crown Records.

Gotta Love Death Bells

Australian based group Death Bells really won me over with a couple of solid performances this year during SXSW. Both shows were tight, intense, and filled with tons of emotion. Since that time, the band plans to hop from the land down under and move to Los Angeles with plans of touring and releasing new music. Some of that new music comes your way today with this new single called “Echoes”. It features much more of a bright and soft sound when compared to the band’s more raw, dark new wave sound from last release Standing at the Edge of the World. Not sure if this is a permanent change in direction or just the band playing with new ideas, but I can dig it either way.

This track appears on a new 7″ single you can pre-order now via Funeral Party Records.

The Austin music scene is alive and well.

Check Out This Jane Church Track

My friends who run Greenway Records have really been killing it over the last year or so with a slew of great albums and singles. The label is continuing their solid release run with a new single and 7″ from Queens based artist Jane Church. This track, “Rocket to the Kremlin”, is a driving rock song with swirling guitars and a quirky, almost Lou Reed style delivery on the vocals. If you aren’t, you should really be paying attention to this label and their artists.

This track appears on a new 7″ out in June via Greenway Records with a full length coming in the fall.

Single Premiere: Matthew Melton

Melton1 copyAll of us here in Austin were pumped when we heard about Warm Soda moving to town.  Of course this would mean we often get a first listen to new tunes before anyone else as is the case today.  For a bit of a twist, creative mind behind the band, Matthew Melton, is going solo for this effort.  Below you can find our exclusive stream of Melton’s new single called “Too Many Hearts Lack Lovers”.  Once again we are treated to some garage influenced pop music, but with an almost psych style twist from who is now one of Austin’s best up and coming songwriters.  Carry on friend.

Southpaw Records will release this track via 7″ single on September 15th.

Impressive New Track From Mr. Gnome

TUpload_SxSW2012_Days_2012_03_14-12_29_32o put it bluntly, Mr. Gnome lost me a little bit with some of their new material after a promising beginning to their career.  That said, this new song “Sleepwalker” is yet again delivering on what I originally found interesting about the group.  It starts off a little slow, and then builds and grows into this impressively mesmerizing pop themed number.  Give it a whirl and treat yo self.

Mr. Gnome will be releasing this track on a new 7″ coming out June 16th.  Pre-order here.

Austin Spotlight: Balmorhea

BALMORHEA1At this point in their musical career, I’d say that Austin based group Balmorhea are easily one of the most recognize names in the indie scene.  They caught our attention around the inception of our website with their roots and atmospheric take on instrumental music.  I’m pleased to be sharing with you today their latest single called “HEIR I”.  The track has that familiar Balmorhea feel as it slowly builds towards this moment of sheer beauty about two or so minutes in.  This would a perfect song to enjoy some Sunday morning coffee.

This song appears on a brand new 7″ coming out on October 14th via Western Vinyl.

Have Fun With Male Gaze

artworks-000080875768-n3iggi-t500x500Male Gaze is a San Francisco based trio that rose from the ashes of many great Cali rock bands.  After getting together, the band already have new music in the works and are ready to share this great new rock track called “Cliffs of Madness” with your eager awaiting ears.  It’s a fuzzy, loud, in your face tune that’s sure to wake any of you sleepyheads up on this dreary hump day.  Let the rock begin.

Pick up this track on a new 7″ now via Mt. St. Mtn. and stay tuned for a full length coming later this fall on Castle Face Records.

Austin Spotlight: Tele Novella

teleThose of you who’ve been following the local Austin scene surely are aware of the blossoming act, Tele Novella, but if not, now’s the time for you take notice.  The group is pretty sensational, creating some of the best pop music to come out of city, and dare I say, the world as a whole.  There’s a soft spin on the vocals for this track, and the construction of the track allows for inspired listeners to take the most out of every spin.  You’ll find the group  releasing their debut 7″, Don’t Be a Stranger, on November 5th, with some great Texas gigs lined up.  Going to be a nice year (and beyond) for this four-piece.
