Photos: Texas Record Label Bazaar @ ABGB (5/12)

Hey everyone. I went to hang out with the friends and family, dogs and mascots on Saturday at the Texas Record Label Bazaar.

We said goodbye to the last few Summer Salt EP’s, said hello to a number of new labels from outside Austin and ate some pizza and drank some beer. There were a ton of great finds lurking, from punk thrash to banjo ballads to new age intrumentals. I loved the diversity and number of familiar names on the tables.

So sit back and see some funny, candid and touching moments from the event.

Texas Record Label Bazaar at ABGB Tomorrow

There will be records. There will be pizza. There will be beer. There will be records. There will be t-shirts. There will be cassette tapes. There will be a bunch of record labels from across the state of Texas. There will be ATH Records. So, tomorrow, from 3-7, your job for the early evening is to set out to the ABGB, swing by the Texas Record Label Bazaar. You know how you always tell your friends how much you love live music, and how much you support it by going to shows? Well, you can also support the labels that hopefully serve as another cog in the Austin/Texas music machine. Thanks to Modern Outsider, ABGB, Texas Music Office and KUTX for the organization and support! For a list of the labels present, check the EVENT PAGE.

Show Pics: Caroline Says and Growl @ ABGB

This show was a while back. I brought along the camera just for fun, even through it was a date night/friend dinner, as I hadn’t shot at ABGB. I figure I might as well share pics even though I am still learning a new camera system. On tap, besides the beer, was Caroline Says and ATH Records‘ own Growl. Both bands are chock full of familiar friendly faces. So, delicious pizza, great beer, wife, friends that joined for dinner, Team ATH Records, two solid sets in a unique venue, lovely evening had.

ATX Spotlight: New Album from Wild Bill and the Lost Knobs

wildbillYou hang out in Austin long enough, you’re bound to catch a whiff of Wild Bill and the Lost Knobs…one of the more eccentric country/folk acts about town. But, while Wild Bill’s known for his creativity, one should listen to the production and storytelling on the band’s latest single for their forthcoming LP, Scumbags of the Rodeo. You’ll hear wonderful slide guitar, female accompanying vocals…all hinting at that badd-ass boogie Bill and his crew bring to the table. It’s your job to help Wild Bill get himself off that ledge, and the best way you can do that is by supporting the band and grabbing their new album. They’ll also be celebrating its release on September 16th over at the ABGB…so mark your calendars.
