Alex Cameron Shares New Video / Announces Album

Everyone’s favorite weirdo bad boy, Alex Cameron, has just dropped a new video and shared the news of his forthcoming LP. “Divorce” is a pop leaning tune from the crooner that’s, of course, not devoid of the strange and in depth lyricism that we’ve come to know from the gentleman. Sonically, you get a bouncy anthemic tune, with the ever-positive refrain of Cameron singing “All you gotta do is say it: divorce, divorce, divorce.” This borderline bitter sentiment is juxtaposed nicely in the brightness of the piano and pop structure of the song. But the sounds of it, it seems like we should all be in great anticipation for Cameron’s upcoming album, Miami Memory, which will be out on 9/13. Pre-order it here.

Another New Alex Cameron Video

Alex Cameron, the man, the legend, is on his way to his sophomore album release. After his killer duet and neat video for “Stranger’s Kiss” featuring Angel Olsen, he’s trying to keep the momentum going for that upcoming record. “Runnin’ Outta Luck” shows the artist dancing about in several different locations along a coast with his signature silly dance moves, high waist jeans, and slicked back cool-boy hair. The track is a bouncy pop tune, with 80s synth influence and the help of Brandon Flowers on backing vocals/guitars/keys. You can definitely hear Flowers’ presence through the whole song, and the chorus is pretty damn catchy, leaning hard into the bad-boy persona that Cameron has fashioned. Take a peek below and get ready for the release of Forced Witness, which will be out next week on September 8 via Secretly Canadian.

Alex Cameron Shares New Duet With Angel Olsen

Sometimes when bands go on tour together, all that bonding and time together produces something magical. An example of such a magical thing is the video below for “Stranger’s Kiss” on which resident moody boy Alex Cameron and powerhouse Angel Olsen combine forces for the greater good. The video is star-studded as well and mocks Cameron’s personae of cool-guy a bit. As far as the song goes, I’m reminded of 80s rock with the arcing chorus and Cameron and Olsen’s voices meld together quite well. Check it out below.

You Can’t Not Love Alex Cameron

There’s something undeniably cool about Alex Cameron, be it his 80s leaning pop construction or his memorable dance moves. Today he announces Forced Witness, his new album coming your way in the fall. I love the slightly smoky feel to his voice on this performance, aided by a female companion in the back. I’m a little bummed he couldn’t get Christian Slater to play him in this video, as it definitely feels like a roll Christian would have killed! Smooth pop, smooth jam. Look for Forced Witness on September 8th via Secretly Canadian.

Hear This Dark Building Track From Alex Cameron

alex cameronWhen I first hit play on this track from Alex Cameron‘s newest video for the track, “Take Care of Business,” I’ll admit that it took me a bit of time before I could really get into this minimalistic approach to dark pop. It’s a definite grower of a song, so you’ll need to have patience when you listen to this one, and make sure you hold on to the end, where the instrumentation picks up, and the sinister vocal growl of Cameron really becomes a croon. He’s releasing his Secretly Canadian debut later this year calledJumping The Shark, and his hitting the road with the likes of big names like Angel Olsen and Mac Demarco, so you should probably keep your ears peeled for more from this gentleman. Watch the video below.

Dark Pop from Alex Cameron

alexThis tune from Alex Cameron came out of left-field.  It’s this little bit of electronic pop, but there’s a resemblance to pop forefathers like David Byrne and David Bowie, especially when you get to that computer-distorted guitar line.  This is the sort of thing where you’re listening, then you press repeat to make sure it’s as remarkable as you thought. If you listen to the change in vocal after the 3 minute mark, then hopefully, like me, you’ll agree that Alex is someone that we need to keep an eye on.  His debut solo record, Jumping the Shark,  will make its way into the public’s hand this weekend.
