You gotta know with this website that we’re going to talk about the Mountain Goats show when they stop through town. So take yourself over to Antones on Wednesday night which is where we would be if that GUK show wasn’t coming to town. Opening support will be provided by Final Fantasy and Larkin Grimm.

Let the ATH ACL festival madness begin! So we’ve started off light with a few spotlights on lesser known ACL artists and now we’re really getting serious with artist interviews. Last year we spoke to some pretty big bands and we hope to reach as many artists as we can this year. To start off our interview series, we have none other than French pop hit makers Phoenix. Guitar player Christian Mazzalai recently sat down with us to chat a bit about his now 10 year old band. Follow the jump for full interview.
It’s been some time since we posted about a White Denim show and we’re excited to see the incredible live band on the bill for Wednesday night at Antones. Hot new artist band Harlem will also be taking part in the night’s event. On the subject, here’s a new track from White Denim called “Wet Sand” that went up a few days ago.

Wow. So apparently Our Lady Peace is still a band and they are actually coming to Antones on Tuesday night. Recent Austin transplants Electric Touch will also be on hand providing opening support. If interested, get yo tickets now for $20. Much to our surprise, Our Lady Peace also just released a brand new album last month with this new single “All You Did was Save my Life”. It’s…. interesting.

The last time we were able to catch M. Ward was at the shores of Ladybird Lake during SXSW, and the intimacy of his tunes was missed as his guitar seemed to drift out onto the shores of on-lookers-most of whom knew very little of the man. Upon his return, we had heard he would be rocking solo, but we were greeted by so much more.
The great M. Ward will be making his way back to Austin on Tuesday night at Antones and you need to make a point to get yourself there. Unfortunately tickets sold out recently so you may have to try your hand at scalping or craigslist. Door time is 8pm and show is 9. Here’s that song we all know and love that will surely appear on everyone’s best of list.

Quiet Company is an Austin band led by native Taylor Glen Muse who has been in and out of countless bands over the last several years. After stints in an early form of Eisley and The Connotations, Mr. Muse moved on to record an album mostly on his own under the moniker Quiet Company. That first record, Shine Honesty, received a mostly positive response from critics which lead to new members and a brand new band. Fast forward to 2009 which sees Quiet Company dropping their sophomore effort Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon and extensive US touring in the works. To quote the band directly, expect songs that “will you make you fall in love with life and then just as quickly challenge everything you know about it”. That sounds like a sweet deal to me. You can catch Quiet Company in town July 31st at Antone’s opening up for What Made Milwaukee Famous. If you dig their sounds, check out their band camp for a full album stream, download a free 3 song sampler or say hi to them on twitter.

It’s finally July and what better way to celebrate summer with a mini-festival being put on by Nylon Magazine at Antone’s on Wednesday night. We call it a mini-festival because the lineup for the late afternoon/nighttime show features 4 incredible acts that should tickle your fancy. The lineup includes showman Patrick Wolf headlining, Living Things, Plastiscines, and long time ATH fave Jaguar Love. Tickets for this big show are only $15 so we suggest you make plans to be there for this extremely cheap show. Doors are at 6pm and first act starts at 7pm. If you don’t like the idea of being at Antone’s for so long, get there early, get stamped, and come and go as you please.

To start off, the band will be joined on the stage by fellow locals The Mercers, Zookeeper, and Wiretree as openers. Tickets will cost you $10 online or $15 for a ticket and a CD. To make things more enticing, the band has a deal with do512 that allows you to get a free 9 song EP, a chance to win tickets, and a 50% off deal just be liking the event. Like they could do anything else to make you want to go. Do it!!!
