Solemn Ballad from Gold Star

This new track from Gold Star is a stunner, and I haven’t been able to turn it off since I first pushed play. There’s a sense of longing and dreaming in the way the guitar chords bend and fade away into the mix, and the voice of singer Marlon Rabenreither makes it hard to pull yourself away. Being captured by a track is one of the best things that can happen, and there’s a huge relief washing over me as I play this number. His new album, Big Blue, will be released on March 24th via Autumn Tone Records.

New Video & Single From Springtime Carnivore

unnamed-1Last week I mentioned that the lovely Greta Morgan and her project known as Springtime Carnivore was truly pulling me out of a musical rut. Well she’s won me over again today and put me in full on swoon with this new single and accompanying video for “Face in the Moon”. Yet again I think she’s worthy of the label as the next Jenny Lewis, Neko Case, or even Courtney Barnett to some extent. Carry on.

Don’t forget Springtime Carnivores second album entitled Midnight Room will drop on October 7th via Autumn Tone Records

Muuy Biien es Muy Bueno

autumntoneThis past year at the annual Athens showcase during SXSW I finally caught Muuy Biien live, and boy did they ever deliver; they were one of my highlights of the entire festival. That being said, they return with a slightly different sound for their upcoming LP, Age of Uncertainty. Their spastic attitude has been traded for something calmer, though a wee bit more experimental in regards to their sound. It gives the band a steadier sound that I’m still attracted to, though I hope it doesn’t affect their live set as they settle into this new groove. Look out for the new record on October 28th via Autumn Tone Records.

Enjoy This New Springtime Carnivore Track

unnamedNathan and I were just talking about how we’ve been struggling to find some real musical gems lately, and how a lot of big name music websites are talking about the VMAs, or Ariana Grande. Depressing stuff really. Well fear not my dear friends, for RayRay has found this awesome new song called “Raised by Wolves” from Greta Morgan and her project known as Springtime Carnivore. Great to me could very well be the next Neko Case or Jenny Lewis style singer songwriter. This track is so simple, yet so much fun to listen to at the same time. Check it out and save your depressing mood.

Twangy Psych Pop From Golden Haze

10420143_848088801878972_3062569001595793912_nHave you heard about Golden Haze yet? If you haven’t, it’s probably time you take a listen, as they’re about to release their self titled debut quite soon on February 19th. This latest single, “Never Comin’ Back” is quite distorted and lo-fi, but in all the right ways. The guitars warble through the mix and synths fill the empty space in the song with long, atmospheric sounds. The chorus is catchy and ready for you to sing along with the band. Short, sweet, and twangy, this track is a small gem to get you through the day. Get ready for their full length coming soon fromAutumn ToneRecords.

More from Strange Faces

stoneStrange Faces seem to be band everyone is talking about at the moment, or at least in some circles. Their latest single before the release of their album next week hits on the lo-fidelity charm we’ve all been enjoying. Still, there’s a fluid bit of pop-centric guitar playing that keeps the interest of the listener; it seems like the song’s always circling back to offer you some hook you won’t be able to put down. If things shape up as the single leads us to believe, Stonerism, should be one hell of a way to end the year; it’s out next Friday via Autumn Tone Records.

New Tune from Springtime Carnivore

heyprettyladyThere’s a reason you should close out your day with Springtime Carnivore this Friday.  For starters, this track is quite playful; the instrumentation allows for a slight bit of bounce.  But, you can add that to the smooth vocal performance of Greta Morgan.  She’s crafted some more solemn tunes, but this one really gives the listeners an energetic view at the pop she’s crafted in the studio with Richard Swift. It almost has a classic lounge feel to it, if you were to amp that style up a few notches.  The project of Morgan will release the self-titled album on November 4th via Autumn Tone Records.

Fresh Music from Springtime Carnivore

summertimeGreta Morgan has got a nice bit producer working on her Springtime Carnivore album; Richard Swift might not have sold me on his participation in the Shins, but his production value is always spot on.  I think it adds a great level of musicianship to Morgan’s work here; her song is filled with little doses of ambient washes and hooky guitars.  It’s a bit of a contrast to most modern chanteuses, maintaining a lurking sensation for the vocals beneath the songwriting; invest your time for maximum reward.  Her self-titled album will be out November 4th on Autumn Tone Records featuring this tune below.
