RayRay’s Top Songs of 2022

Well the ATH crew is getting ready to shutdown for the season, but we’d be remiss to miss out on this whole year end list thing before closing up shop. As we’ve done in the past, I sort of took the lead on top songs of the year as I tend to be more of the playlist guy with Nate featuring more on the album side of things. So if you have any comments or hate to hate on, you can bring all that to this guy. After the jump I have an alphabetical list of all my 102 songs plus playlists for both you Apple Music (winner) AND Spotify (losers) users. Happy Year End 2022!

Last Week’s Jams, Today (August 2 – 6)

Here we are amigos, welcoming you back to what is shaping up to be a really fun week. RayRay and I have to go back to our real jobs, officially, so there’s that. But, we wanted to reflect on last week, bringing you the hits of last week, only bringing them to you today. Most of the stuff we covered, or have covered, since we’re not apt to get to tons of reviews for individual albums, so I threw in a jam. Definitely got some good Austin coverage with new Half Dream, as well as a part Austin participation with Daphne Tunes on that new Central Heat Exchange track. You know, its not tough. Just press play, let the algorithm guide you.

Jams From Last Week 7/27-7/31

It was a bit of a slower week for us on the new music side of things, but we still had a few jams for from the last week of July. You’ll see some recurring artists here like Tummyache and Meatbodies but also new to us music like The Enigmatic Foe or Treeboy & Arc. It’s a shorter one this week so it should be great for your Monday morning or afternoon commute. Stay dry!

Bops from June 9 – 18

We were rocking some sweet playlists, letting you catch up on what we’d been jamming on through the past week, but then we went on vacation and fell behind. So, you’ve got a whole whole lotta music to enjoy today, plus some hits from some records that came out during that time too! Just a collection of hits, and of course I’m starting it off with that ridiculously solid Wet Leg song. Enjoy my friends. Happy Monday.

The Week in Music May 10 – 14

Here we are. Here you are. It’s Monday morning, so let’s go back in time. Way way back, to last week. We’ve got new hits from the Goon Sax and Quivers, as well as some more obscure stuff like Keron and Nina Savary. Plus, we’ve got some old favorites in Dentist, Leon Bridges and Tapeworms, piled on top of a few tunes we dug that already got the mass of hype you’d expect. As per our tastes, its all over the place, which is sort of how I’m feeling on this Monday morning. Have a rad day my friends!

The Week in Music

Nathan and I are constantly coming up with new ideas for the website to better offer you all unique coverage and even easier access to new musical endeavors. Today we thought we’d toss around the idea of offering up a weekly playlist to serve as a recap from the past week. Now these tunes are mostly taken straight from the pages of Austin Town Hall, but others might be things we missed out on or initially passed up for whatever reason. So my peeps, I give you the best of, from last week. Hope it makes your Monday a bit better. Kick out the jams.

Top Aussie Releases of 2020

So, lists are pretty arbitrary, especially for a site like ours, where you mostly know what you’re going to get each day. But, still, I always fall for the “Best Of” lists, though this year, I’m personally staying away from the numbering system; it just doesn’t really mean much to me these days. That said, I do spend a lot of time covering Aussie acts, more than most, so for me, its fun to revisit my favorites. Without further hoopla…here’s my Top Aussie Releases of 2020.

Best of 2020 Thus Far…According to Nathan

We all say these lists are arbitrary, and yet in the end, we get sucked into making our own…mostly because it seems like other people got it so wrong. But, then looking at my personal list, and it’s no wonder we’re not in the cool kids club, because these records are not seeming to make the big time lists. Oh well. Here’s my awards for 2020 thus far…plus, in the very end I have a very nice 10 hr playlist of all my favorite songs of the year, one jam for each day in 2020, save the holidays!

Monthly Playlist & Soundcloud Widget

547158_384539068233239_1618786069_nAs you can see by the attached photo, your friendly ATH crew has been hard at work recently trying to make your website experience even better than before.  After hours spent in the ATH labs, we created a fancy Soundcloud widget over there on the sidebar which allows us to share with you our recent playlists.  We think it’s pretty sweet.  To celebrate this momentous occasion, we cranked out a new playlist today featuring some of our favorite tunes from the last few weeks.  Feel free to jam out in the Soundcloud app, stream/shuffle on Soundcloud.com, or give it a go as you browse through our recent reviews or fancy photos.  As always, feedback is welcome.  Party on Wayne.

Happy New Year from the IT Dept.

CaribouI promised a set of songs from the IT Department for your evening’s happenings. It has dance jams and down-tempo smoothness. It has stuff that was in our best of the year list and stuff that you may be hearing for the first time. Whether you use this for good or evil is up to you. Almost two hours, so plan accordingly…

While trolling for song links, I saw that Roger Sellers has a super fresh version of “Auld Lang Syne” up featuring The Deer. How cool its that? Naturally, it is batting clean up as the final spot on this list with the New Year’s theme. Enjoy your New Year’s with old friends, new friends *wink* and maybe even family. I prefer fambly.

May 2015 be better than 2014. Be you…
