Premiere: Mother Sun Share Webbed Feet

Man it seems like the Birmingham, AL based label Earth Libraries has been dropping so many great releases and discovering tons of new artists across the country over the last couple of years. Adding to their ever growing arsenal of up and coming artists is the Canadian based psych rockers Mother Sun and the news of an LP entitled Train of Thought coming on October 28th via the label. Prior to the release date, I am pumped to premiere with you the bands slick new single and accompanying visualizer for “Webbed Feet”. It’s a really fun and playful tune highlighting some of the best sounds in psych pop mixed with swinging melodies and downright dirty bass lines. A refreshing light in a muddy genre.

Twin River Share Over and Over

Vancouver based group Twin River has really impressed me with this new single called “Over and Over” and I had to share my enthusiasm with the ATH readers. The track features this sort of rustic, countryish theme but with super bright guitars, nice vocal harmonies, and a tight as hell rhythm section. All things I love to find in my Monday morning playlists. I think you’ll also enjoy the accompanying video which features some lovely visuals from in and around Vancouver.

This track will appear on a new EP from Twin River entitled When We Think About Time due out on August 12th via Light Organ Records.

Dan Mangan – More Or Less

Rating: ★★★★☆

I had to search our own site to find out how long it’s been since I’ve posted an album review and I will refrain from embarrassing myself with the exact timeframe, though you could search yourself I guess. We as an ATH staff have been neglectful as a whole when it comes to album reviews and we are hoping to rectify this moving forward. Hopefully you can understand that if an album has brought me out of my review slumber it must be a great one. The very soon to be released new album from Dan Mangan, More Or Less, is just such an album because, holy hell, it’s impressive. Hit the jump for some thoughts, photos, and tunes.

Straight Rock From Dead Soft

More often than not, I like to kick it old school with my musical tastes. Ya know some old emo/post-emo style tunes or throwbacks to 90s era grunge/alt-rock are sure to pull at my heart strings. Well my friends in Vancouver based band Dead Soft deliver the later style today with this new song “Down”. It’s certainly a grunge, alternative rock song similar to something you might have heard on the indie stations back in the late 90s. Bing bang boom.

Dead Soft will release their latest EP New Emotion on October 5th via Arts & Crafts.
