New 80’s Action Figure Video From Oh Look Out

It’s rare that we here at ATH post videos on this here site, so you’ve got to know it’s special when we actually do.  This sweet new action figure themed video comes our way from former Built By Snow frontman JP Pfertner and his new project Oh Look Out.  Now I posted about this new project over a year ago, and this is first new material I’ve heard from JP since then.  The video for the song “Monster Fiction” features 75% of the action figures I had in my toy chest as a child and I found myself pausing to get a closer look at my old favorite figures.  How many did you have?  A new album from the new project is said to be coming real soon, so sit tight.

New Music From Oh Look Out

Here’s a new track just sent our way called “Ahhh!” from Built by Snow frontman JP Pfertner and his relatively new project know as Oh Look Out.  The song has obvious BBS sonic qualities and continues the catchy as hell themes familiar to JP’s well known local band.  This song and 8 others appear on a new online only LP available for free download right now.  It looks like our thirst for new BBS material will be quenched by this new and promising project.

Well it’s about damn time gentlemen!  After now what seems like a major hiatus away from the music scene, some of our favorite local boys Built by Snow are getting together for their first show in over 9 months.  The guys have apparently heard your cries to play live again and have even made the show free of charge.  How sweet.  Opening up for the ATH faves will be BBS side project Red Falcon.

New Music From Oh Look Out

Oh Look Out is the new side project from Built by Snow leading man and Austin resident JP Pfertner.  JP tells me that BBS are currently on a little break and he’s been writing and recording some music on his own in the down time.  The product of these recordings can be heard below in the form of “Analogatron” with a few more on the Oh look Out website.  This tune keeps that nerd pop sound of BBS, but also implements something new and itriguing: a heavier bass sound and scratchier vocals.  I think it’s really showing some growth from JP as a song builder and keeps us looking forward to a new Built by Snow album when the guys start playing again.

Mr. Fest In San Marcos 5/2

MEESTER(PURPLE)So if your Saturday plans are looking bleak, take a little trip down I-35 to San Marcos for the KTSW sponsored Mr. Fest this weekend.  The event is going to be a big one and we won’t even attempt to list all the goings on in this tiny little space so we’ll hit the key points.  For starters, this event will start at 11am, run all day long and end around 1am.  All sorts of local bands will be playing at the festival including a headlining night show by one of our favorites Black Joe Lewis.  Even better news, our friends Whitman & Built by Snow will be playing hour long sets right before Black Joe  on the Bar 141 stage.  All of downtown is included with 5 venues setting up stages for live music.  Not just a music event, food, drink and games will also be part of the fun.  Best of all, this thing is totally free!  For more information, head to the KTSW website, see show info on Do512 or check out that fancy flier.  This should be one festival you won’t want to miss.
