Work Wear Share One Day Away Single

When I heard this Work Wear single the first run, I was really digging into the way the band flirted with light jangle rock, that roundabout churning guitars we know and love. That’s definitely still got its moments, but there’s also this earnestness in the vocals that I can’t seem to escape; there’s something that feels like we’re taking a journey with the band during the verses, all in order to arrive at the top of the mountaintop with an emphatic punch in the air. I love the balance between a sort of chugging indie rock and lighter indiepop vibe, balancing pop and left-of-the-dial til the end. Enjoy.

Stray Fossa Ready Sophomore Album

Charlottesville based band Stray Fossa released their debut LP With You For Ever around this time last year and it quickly became a favorite around the ATH offices. While we are still spinning the debut, the band has stayed busy and is hitting us again in 2022 with the announcement of their sophomore release Closer Than We’ll Ever Know coming in June. Prior to the summer release date, the band has graciously allowed us to share the very first new track from the release entitled “Transpiring”. This one shows a band continuing to evolve their indie pop sound now with heavy doses of dreaminess and a slick groove sure to get your body moving. Check it out.

Closer Than We’ll Ever Know will be released on June 3rd via Born Loser Records. Pre-orders are already live.

New Indie Pop From Stray Fossa

Man we get a lot of things labeled as “indie pop” sent our way and typically the tune is either super commercial, pop star style or simply to slow and meandering to be considered pop music. Well today I have a truly bouncing and bright pop number called “For What Was” from my old pals in Charlottesville based group Stray Fossa. This ladies and gents, THIS, is what I truly consider an indie pop number. It’s super catchy, the synths come in perfectly and the beat is incredibly infectious. Mark it up as one of the best I’ve heard in the genre over the last few months.

Bright New Tune From Stray Fossa

The sun is out in Austin and I was looking this morning for some tuneage to match the bright and sunny mood here. Today I need look no further than my new amigos in Charlottesville based band Stray Fossa and their new single “It’s Nothing”. It reminds me a bit of my old pals in Grand Archives if they added some dreamy, pop elements to their sound. Clearly this band has taken a bit of a dated, overdone genre and taken it into a new avenue with a refreshing, bright and airy style.
