Communions Return With Splendor

We made a ton of posts about Danish band Communions way back in 2014-2015 and we’ve since lost touch with the band though they’ve continued to put out music over the last 4-5 years. Our lack of awareness will hopefully be forgiven as you check out this new track called “Splendour” and enjoy all the lovely components to break down. The song offers some new wave, pop elements combined with a more intimate and breathy take on things akin to say Choir of Young Believers or similar outfits. If you forgot about the band, as we unfortunately did, it’s time to start paying attention again.

This track is the first with the bands new hometown label Tambourhinoceros. More to come hopefully.

Be Captivated By This Communions Music Video

unnamedYes, your time is very precious, so you’re probably wondering why I’m asking you to watch/listen to a music video that’s almost seven minutes long. But really, you need to trust me on this one, as it really is worth your time. You’ll press play on “Forget It’s a Dream” below and within the first thirty seconds the sights and sounds of Communions will ensnare your attention, so much so that at the end of the track you will be wondering where the time went and why you’re so inclined to press replay. The delightful new-wave/indie rock sound that is on the track below comes from these Danish gentlemen’s latest EP, which they’ve released through Tough Love Records. You can pick up a copy here.  Do yourself a favor and get lost in the video below.

Fuck Yeah, More New Communions

front_digiMan, this Communions band has me excited for things to come.  The band blends some of that discordant dance music with 80s pop tropes.  It’s something that has the potential to carry on for a long time, especially considering that the oldest member of the band is only 21.  As of now, the tunes are good; they’re catchy, they show the spirit of the band.  Personally, I hope to see some growth, sonically, maybe taking some risks with the sound.  But, for now I’m hooked on the act, which makes their forthcoming self-titled EP quite intriguing; it’s available on June 2nd via Tough Love.

Great New Pop Track From Communions

front_digiCommunions is a Copenhagen based band that both Lankford and I posted about back in October of last year.  I hadn’t heard much from the band since that time so imagine my surprise and delight when the band just sent over this awesome new track “Out of My World”.  I don’t know about you guys, but I continue to dig the beautifully quirky take on pop music.

Communions finally have a new self-titled EP due out in June on Tough Love Records.

Communions Make the Perfect Sort of Pop Music

commieThere’s really not too much information traveling about involving Communions, but one things seems to be that everyone who has taken a listen to the Danish group has found themselves falling in love.  Honestly, I hear a lot of great similarities to our boys Literature; the song below has that same jangle and there’s just a hint of obscuring vocal effects.  I think it’s the perfect way to wrap up our week here, as it’s a near perfect song.  They’ve got a Tough Love Records 7″ coming out on November 10th, so let’s hope we get to hear more from them.

Beauty From Communions

10646748_695315667227066_7770546735906319449_nCopenhagen based Communions are wooing me today with this beautiful number called “So Long Sun”.  The track starts out with some atmosphere to ease you into things, but then builds and builds into some loud, hazy pop moments of shear beauty.  All in all, this is a track worthy of a few spins today.

This song appears on a new 7″ due out from the band on November 10th via Tough Love Records.
