There were a lot of great songs coming our way last week, as well as a lot of great album to spend time with when you got to Friday. We tried to make sure we got your ears on as much as we could, so hopefully you can revisit those posts from last week to grab a little bit of joy from those tunes. There have been some really great tracks that have all led us to the release this week, and we’ve spent some time hopefully supporting the stuff that hits the hardest, in our books anyways. Most of these, other than one, probably haven’t gotten as much hype as they deserve, thus, here I am to be that voice. So, I’ve collected those album streams and encourage you to go grab copies for your collection, as all of these releases are worth spending your time with today.

Lots of coverage running around last week, and with ACL in town, there was some coverage of shows and what not. We ended the week throwing up some streams of our favorite LPs that dropped too. But, ultimately, you came here for the tunes, and we had lots of them. Personally, I loved new stuff from I Was a King, Heather Trost and Field School, not to mention the little twist in expectations thrown in by the latest from Smashing Times. Cozy Slippers Share I Can’t Keep You Safe

If you’ve been casually reading through these posts, you likely have stumbled upon a Cozy Slippers track or two, and yet here we are hopping on the band’s latest single, with a little over a week before they drop their new LP. This track straddles nostalgic 90s pop and current indiepop trends; it brings light circular guitar jangles back and forth for your ears, but the vocals definitely seem like something you’d find in the best of 90s alternative rock. The song’s success works in both places, as the musicianship is sublimely spirited, with the vocals holding onto this dreamy assuredness. If you’re digging, the band release their self-titled LP via Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten.

Happy Monday! Man, we covered a ton of ground last week, and I’m super stoked with the songs we squeezed into this playlist…and for the first time all of them are available on one streaming platform. That either means my tastes have gotten super basic, or those DSPs have taken over! Either way, there were a bunch of songs to love last week. I’m smitten with this new track from Kindsight, and I can’t stop playing that Cozy Slippers tune, so that’s a fun place for you to start. We get bonuses as members of Math and Physics Clubs have created two new bands, both with great new singles: Field School and Model Shop. Just a bunch of great jams to get your morning off on the right track.

Think you need a pick-me-up, then I’ve got the right track to set you straight. This new Cozy Slippers single is just the perfect pop dream, and honestly, I didn’t expect such a magical tune to fall right into my lap. The crisp jangles of course fit perfect into my listening rotation, but I love the ending little solo with its classic rock flare. That said, if you’re not swooning from the vocal performance then you might want to get your speakers checked; the perfect notes getting hit remind of Neko on those early New Pornographers LPs, albeit one spun with a bit of indiepop in mind. The band release their self-titled LP via Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten/Subjangle on October 14th.

Strangely, I felt like we didn’t cover a ton of territory last week, but then I noticed we have quite a playlist, and that’s even with a few jams not quite making the streaming services of choice. I opened the playlist with “It Keeps Happening” from Germany’s Matching Outfits; I couldn’t stop playing the tune all week, so I figured it was best up front. We also got new stuff from forever-faves like Peel Dream Magazine and the Boys with the Perpetual Nervousness. Stoked on both the new Eerie Wanda and Submotile tunes, and RayRay loved that latest Disq tune. Settle in for the day and turn it up nice and loud.

Cozy Slippers Announce New LP + Share Single

I hope you’re not afraid of bears, as this video is chock full of them, or at least one! But, the video comes with the joy of knowing that an LP is on the way from Cozy Slippers, with the added bonus that that’s just around the corner in October. As for the tune, it splits a nice balance between some psychedelically washed guitar grooves and a sugary sweet bounce from the vocals. Generally speaking, both styles are great, but its been a minute since I’ve heard them both balanced so seamlessly. Psycho-pop for the win? Whatever the genre, the self-titled release is out October 14th via Subjangle and Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten.

Yo. We forgot last week. Sorry. Please forgive us. Here’s a great way to start off your Monday with a playlist of last week’s hits. We added a few from some of the records we were jamming like Mope City and Phantom Handshakes…not to mention a hit from the great album ATH Records just dropped from Space Tan! Just a nice easy hour of listening to get you in through the morning Monday blues. So yeah, no need for more…just jam to some hits.

Cozy Slippers Drop Brand New Single

The last we heard from Seattle’s Cozy Slippers they were dropping the A Million Pieces 7′ for the esteemed Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten…and they pop up out of nowhere today with a brand new single of bouncing pop rock, at least on the A-side. “When Will When Come” is this infectious pop tune of driving rhythm and soaring vocals from Sarah and Barbara; they use a semi-dreamy style and fuse it with a whole lot of bop. But, flip to “Be Alone With Me” and they blend in this rad college rock feel; I kind of get classic Juliana Hatfield vibes on it, and I don’t mind that one bit. Really great to see the band up and running, so lets hope we get more from them soon!
