Dayflower Release Picturefall

Readers should not be surprised to see us covering another track from Leicester’s Dayflower, as the group have hit our site before…but I’m really enamored by the latest tune. Light cymbals and twisting guitars brought me into the fold, teasing me with a softer whispering vocal, all before the song really launches into a heaver brand of dreamy shoegaze. Chords bend and distortion rings out, seemingly riding out a storm of noisy atmosphere before slinking back to the more pensive center of the tune, which gets a bonus added backing vocal that really ups the ante on melody. This tune’s a journey of dreamy shoegaze, so if that’s your bag, then turn it up and enjoy.

Brand New Fanclub Track

If you were to look over the last year, you’d realize how much we love Austin outfit Fanclub. They’ve got an energetic take on dream pop, letting jangling guitar lines meet up with samples and precision drum work, all the while Leslie lets her heavenly voice float on top. They just released their All the Same EP, but they’re back already with a brand new tune for your ears, and a video to boot! It’s as catchy as anything they’ve put out, with an old school style wash to the video giving some Flashback Friday vibes. Not sure if this means there’s a new EP on the horizon, but fingers crossed!

Estonian Dreampop from Bizarre

Estonia is probably the last place you think of when the topic of dreampop/shoegaze emerges. But, the country boasts Pia Fraus, although before that, they were part of Bizarre. Our first experience with the group, and for many of you, is this subdued number, dominated by the perfect blend of male/female vocal parts. The background fills with guitar chords wandering through the landscape of simple percussive rhythms; it crafts this beautiful realm where you’re free to completely lose yourself in the melody of the track. It’s impressive to see that these recordings were out there in the late 90s, clearly a precursor to a lot of the current vibes going about. Necro will be released on June 4th via Seksound/Darla.
