Lakes Region Share Echo, Drop Vital Signs

I am a little late to the game on the latest release from Australia’s Lakes Region, but I aim to rectify my error by sharing one of my favorite tunes from the new Vital Signs LP. “Echo” lives in the dream pop realm, with these swirling guitars filtering through your speakers like wisps of smoke. Pete Bridle’s voice, however, unlocks the secrets the song, coming across like a last grasp of grandeur, one more attempt to stretch the melodies into the beyond. This is what you’ll get through and through on Vital Signs, a record that feels like its slow burning along the edges, leaving these glowing little embers of warm pop.

Austin Spotlight: Matthew Squires and Learning Disorders

mathewsMatthew Squires and Learning Disorders jumped into the Austin music scene in 2012, crafting their own blend of acoustic-influenced pop music.  This week the group announced that they’ll be releasing a brand new record, Where the Music Goes to Die.  Musically, there’s this obvious brightness, from the bouncing of the guitar work to the defined airy quality of Squires’ voice.  Lyrically, there seems to be this incredible bit of honesty from the artist, or any artist for that matter. The lyrics show a song that’s presented as is…there’s no pretense, it might not even be complete, it’s just the perfect capturing of a musician’s work in time. You’ll be able to grab their new album on December 2nd.

Hello Echo Return with New Single

helloechoApollo Sunshine made some pretty solid tunes, so it’s no surprise that when former singer Sean Aylward started his new project, Hello Echo, that the music would live up to the expectations of listeners.  As the band gears up for the release of their second album, Echo, they’ve taken onto the softer side of the musical world. While this song has traditional folk balladry written all across it, the additional accompaniment of piano, slide guitars and string arrangements really makes your listen something extremely special.  If it’s your thing, then grab the album on February 25th when it hits stores.
